The New Hardrock '09 is lighter, has more flex in the fore foot, and utilizes 'perimeter control' where the foot is supported by the midsole during direction change on the trail. The shoe also has a substantial medial post that does much to help over-pronators in stride. This is a great shoe for fast packing or light hiking or for anyone that needs a little more ankle support. Hope this info helps!
