I'm in for my first 50K and I feel like I need a bit more beefy trail shoe. I currently run in Adi-zero trails, are the XT Wings a good choice? Seems like all the shoes here get pretty good reviews!

Joel, i would look at these Salomons for sure. IT has been my experience that they are a great all around shoe, for trail running or otherwise. I have actually tried some North Face trail running shoes and i didnt like the way the heel fit or the lacing system. Obviously you could feel differently, but i recommend these without a doubt.

it all depends on the terrain you gonna run on and your weight as well. If you are a pretty experienced runner with great trail running technique and if you're light (below 160) you can choose the speedcross 2. If you're running on very technical rocky terrain, and/or you're above 160, the XT Wings is a great choice. Go for it!

they ae a good shoe but DO need to be broken in, these are the first salmons i have had that have given me a blister.

Joel, Salomon's are great trail shoes-breath excellent, and are fairly light(13oz.) and the base on these shoes is really thick. I would recommend the Salomon's but also compare Northface Trail shoes too.
