OR says that this jacket can be packed into its own internal pocket that functions as a stuff sack. So far I haven't been able to figure out how to make it all fit in without it looking like a giant jacket-mess. Special way to do it or am I just missing something?

It can be done, but I've always avoided using the integrated stuff sacks in jackets. You increase the chances of tearing a seam by stuffing a jacket into one of its own pockets. For $6, go buy yourself a Granite Gear stuff sack. It's light, strong, and will be a much better choice than the integrated pocket.
