I'm planning a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, and I was wondering what the thoughts are for that application with these shoes? Any specific comments about expected mileage, water resistance, or blisters would be great.

I went GA to ME in 06, a few people started with the version of the chameleon at the time, and they switched to a lighter shoe pretty quick. When it gets wet it takes forever to dry, and believe me your feet get wet on the AT. Go with a lightweight shoe that doesn't have gore-tex. You want something that will dry fast once you pull out the insoles and let them sit in the sun after it rains for 5 days straight. Nothing feels better than putting on warm dry shoes. With a thick leathery shoe like this you will be putting on a soppy, muddy, heavy, smelly thing that will make you look for a new shoe at the next outfitter.
