Question regarding snow shoes. What would be the best pair of snowshoes for a guy like me. I weigh 220 lbs and am 6"2 with a size 11 shoe (10 in snowboard boots). Money is not an object but rather buying something that is functional and durable is much more important to me. I would be using them for hiking the sierra's (Sherwin Mtns) then descents on my snowboard. Thanks

Definitely consider the add-on tails for any of the MSR shoes for increased flotation - the basic shoe is great in settled pack. Though when you are in powder or light crystal these shoes tend to sink somewhat more.

I would recommend getting soem 30" MSR lightening ascents. I'm similar build and show size to you and these things rock. Unfortinately guys like us just have to go with the long ones. With the denalis you'll need big extensions to keep you afloat when breaking trail. Definitely more expensive, but overall higher quality. check out reviews here and around the web. http://www.backcountry.com/store/CAS0488/MSR-Lightning-Ascent-Snowshoe.html Or, just get a splitboard ;-).
