So I tried on a size 26.5(I wear size 9 1/2 shoes), and felt my toes curling in the boots. Will a size 28 be too big? I still need to get the inner boot molded to my foot, right? I'm trying to upgrade from some Crispi CX-As.

A 28 will definitely be too large. Garmont shell sizes run so that each half size is the same shell as the whole size below it (ie 26.5 is the same shell as a 26), so a 28 would be TWO shell sizes larger than the 26.5.
