this question might really show my newbyness, but I'm really not sure about the length of boards. I started riding last year on a head board that I got in Germany, I have no idea what model it is, but it's 157cm and I'm 6'2". Does that sound right, or should I have a longer board? I'm also 190lbs, if that makes any difference. I've been checking out this AK board and I'm totally digging it, but if I was to buy it, I don't know which length I should choose 162cm or 172cm. Is there any difference in the width of the two? Would this board be a good choice for a semi-beginner who really wants to get into boarding?

162 is just about perfect for you!...judging by your height and weight (which matters almost more than height), and a 172 is way too big for you...it does depend on what you ride tho too, the 162 is going to be very fast and stable but you arent going going to be able to butter or jib with it so stay away form park...but this is a big mountain freeride board anyway, and is perfect for when you want to step your skills up to the next level
