Amazing alpine climbing or stellar ski conditions will get me romping anywhere! So far I haven't ventured far, but I really don't need to living so close to the Tetons and being right next to some of the best backcountry skiing around.
Unfortunately I'm in my last semester of graduate school and will have to face reality very soon. But my time will be well spent ice climbing and skiing this winter.

This tool, as was said above, has great clearance so you never pound your knuckles. This is hands down the best tool you can get for the money. The only other tool I liked better was the leashless Cobra. Anytime I'm climbing in Hyalite and someone uses these, they always love 'em. Can't go wrong here. Haven't done any dry tooling, but I can't wait to try.

Great shirt for everything

Patagonia Capilene 3 Zip-Neck - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Patagonia Capilene 3 Zip-Neck - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 28, 2008

This is one piece that will always be in my arsenal. Whether it be summer alpine climbing or winter backcountry skiing, I always have this piece. I'll throw a Capilene 2 underneath and a softshell over, and I'm set for a day of romping in the cool to cold.
It's got a great fit that isn't too tight, nor is it very loose. It's easy to fit one layer underneath, but not much more than that otherwise the fit would start to be tight.

Warm or cold...

Patagonia Capilene 1 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Patagonia Capilene 1 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 28, 2008

This shirt is a little too thin to really put some abuse to, but it's perfect for cool to warm summer conditions when you need just a little more coverage. The fit is perfect for using under layers or worn by itself (it doesn't hug your every curve, but it isn't too lose either). This is one piece I like to have with me at all times during the spring, summer and fall.

Backcountry

Backcountry Access Alpine Trekker Adaptors

Backcountry Access Alpine Trekker Adaptors

Rating for this product: 4 February 11, 2008

These are great for moderate skinning conditions. Horrible on side-hills (but manageable). I've used these multiple times already in the Bridger backcountry and they have been great! When side-hilling, my front hinging pin is bent a little bit because of the force. Otherwise they've been great!

Solid Skins

Rating for this product: 5 February 11, 2008

These things are the standard of the skinning industry. I use these on my Line Prophet 100's and they're great! I am using the 120 size. Someone forgot to put the trimming tool in, so maybe this site could monitor their items better so people get everything... But definitely use the trimming tool. They've been great for my use around Bozeman.

La Sportiva Trango Light Low Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 6, 2007

These shoes perform excellently. Great adjustability, fit and functionality. They size correctly, unlike their trail running shoes, and have great soles and fit for hiking and approaches. Highly recommended. My favorite approach shoe.

excellent shoes

La Sportiva Barr Trail Running Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Barr Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 25, 2006

These shoes are extremely comfortable and have an extremely sticky sole. Size em up a little bit. I usually wear a 43 or 44 and got a 44.5. They are made for narrower feet to regular feet. Highly recommended.
