It's not my Ultrawick, but...

The North Face TKA Stealth Blocked Fleece 1/4 Zip Pullover - Men's

The North Face TKA Stealth Blocked Fleece 1/4 Zip Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 31, 2007

This piece was purchased to replace my long loved Ultrawick 1/4 zip pullover. Lost many months ago, I have searched for a suitable replacement for a very long time. This piece comes close. I'm 6ft. 180lbs, and the piece fits great (Large). I like the long sleeves. They cover my wrists well, and though they aren't tight fitting they keep my arms warm down low. Actually, the loose wrists, make movement such as reaching comfortable. It is a hair on the heavy side. It does very well down to about 50 degree weather as long as I am moving. Tha is with only a t-shirt underneath. The material is the bomb. I'm a climber and it appears that this stuff will take some abuse. That's one of the traits of my Ultrawick that I so loved. It was a bit stiff when i first received it, but has loosened up and become more comfy as time goes by. Slightly long in the torso also, keeps my back warm in the wind.

It isn't my Ultrawick

The North Face Apex Zip Shirt Jacket - Men's

The North Face Apex Zip Shirt Jacket - Men's

I have looked all over to find a product that worked as well as my old Ultrawick pullover. This seemed to meet the requirement, but not quite. The one complaint I have is that, in cool weather, the material is cold to your skin. A light fleece liner would fix it, but now I need two pullovers. It is better at handling the wet than my good ole Ultrawick, but it is not as warm. Generally I like it, but will need to buy something to line it. As a base layer? Who ever said that should spend some time outside.
