Really Warm!

Marmot Iceland Down Jacket - Men's

Marmot Iceland Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 23, 2009

This coat is for staying warm in everyday winter life. A bit heavy for mountaineering or skiing, but lighter than most other around town coats, and it is stuff-able if you had to stow it somewhere. Great for traveling. Hood does not come off, but this has not bothered me because if it's cold enough for this coat then you want the hood. Unfortunately it does not have an internal waist drawcord, just one at the bottom, (which comes down long enough to cover your butt). A bit expensive at full price, but a great deal if you get it on sale. You won't be cold!

Not so great

Dale of Norway Gautefall Jacket - Women's

Dale of Norway Gautefall Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 July 8, 2009

This jacket is way overpriced, and the pockets in front are big, floppy, and don't stay closed very well, I would not put anything in them I was afraid to lose. Only about half of it is actually wool, the rest is just a thin fleece fabric. It is a nice cut, but quite heavy for the amount of warmth. I returned it.

Cloudveil Down Patrol Jacket - Men's

Cloudveil Down Patrol Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 3, 2007

I ended up getting a size bigger than normal in order to be able to wear more than a shirt under it. NO SNOW so I haven't used it skiing yet, but it looks like it will be good.
