  • Stomping Grounds:

I live and play in my home base of Salt Lake City.
  • Bio:

I'm into quite a bit of outdoor activity, that's one of the best things about living in Salt Lake!

In the winter you can find me hovering around Snowbird and the Wasatch backcountry, glued to the weather/avalanche reports.

In the spring/summer/fall you can find me stuck on a bike of some sort. Whether it's doing my 3 weeks downhill-resort-style in Whistler, to rallying XC and freeride in Moab, Fruita, and Brian Head, I make the rounds. Also known to cruise around at high speeds on the asphalt, on my single speed city cruiser. If I'm not on my bike, you'll either find me backpacking or day hiking with my dog Snake... anywhere from Mill Creek, to San Rafael Swell, to Goblin Valley.

    Being outdoors makes me smile.

I have a small head and rock it no problem. It's all how you scrunch up the back to avoid the reservoir tip steeze.

My dog LOVES the Gourdo.

Ruffwear Gourdo Dog Toy

Ruffwear Gourdo Dog Toy

Rating for this product: 5 July 21, 2009

He's now trained to fetch as I yell "Gourdo"! Although the rope got chewed out in about 10 seconds, the rubber is nuclear in the bombproof level. Like all the Ruffwear stuff, this is very well made.

My only utensil!

GSI Outdoor Piranha Foon

GSI Outdoor Piranha Foon

Rating for this product: 5 June 12, 2008

Stiff, reliable and easy to clean. Plus, this doesn't scratch my nonstick pans like a titanium spork would. It works better than a fork IMO, and the spoon is large, IE: works well for soups. I've also had mine for 3+ years and it's bomber. Power to the sporks!

Awesome bag.

Marmot Arroyo Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down

Marmot Arroyo Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 May 8, 2008

I've used the bag about 6 nights, and love my new all-around 3-season gem. I find this bag warm well past the 30 degree rating (but I'm a warm sleeper). Initially, I bought the Marmot Pinnacle (15 degree down) but roasted when it was 25-30 degrees...so the Arroyo was the next step up. The quality of design/materials is top-notch and I love the zipper because it has stiff coating on the baffle which prevents snags. The down is plush, nylon interior is silky, and the shell feels like it could take some abuse...not like the nylon tissue paper of most ultralight bags. Weight is meager, and you can also compress this thing down to nothing (half a loaf of bread). The price may be on the upper end, but I have no qualms about paying for quality and something built to last. Buy this bag and you'll be down too.

Backcountry.com Powderhuffer T-Shirt Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 8, 2008

Love, Love this shirt! Only those who are out there at the break of dawn, or first in the tram line, will get it. I'll wear this all year long or maybe they'll be a "dirt huffer" for the bike heads, who knows?

Acorn Wooly Mule Shoe - Men's

Acorn Wooly Mule Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 27, 2008

These slippers are like 2 Lamborghini's for your feet. They are crafted extremely well. They were a tight squeeze at first, but after a week or so of cruising around the house, they shaped to my feet perfectly. I'm only 34, but I plan on being buried in these slippers.

Simple shirt, you get it or you don't. It's not a terrorist group, it's the ski patrol, to the rescue! Bombs are good, safety first boys and girls!

The killer griller.

Coleman RoadTrip Party Grill

Coleman RoadTrip Party Grill

Rating for this product: 5 February 12, 2008

This is the killer travel grill! It works extremely well and is just amazing how it breaks down to clean, and packs very small. It's such a clever design and puts the old-style gas hibachi's to shame.

Great performance tank!

The North Face Flight Tank - Men's

The North Face Flight Tank - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 31, 2007

This shirt rocks! It feels like you have nothing on because it's so soft to the skin...and it wears really well in terms of not seeing abrasions. I got the black because it's the only size they had for me, and it didn't roast me in the desert like I expected. Plus it's easy to wash/dry for multi-day excursions.

Awesome travel hammock!

Byer of Maine Parachute Traveller Hammock

Byer of Maine Parachute Traveller Hammock

Rating for this product: 5 May 21, 2007

This travel hammock is awesome! It packs ultra small yet unfolds to a nylon oasis. I just used it daily for naps while camping for 5 days and just put it on my front porch when I came home. Used with the Byer of Maine MicroRope, you can string it up almost anywhere there's 2 solid points. The first 1-star review this recieved is WAY OFF!...It almost deterred me from buying it...but Stinky Dave says BUY IT!

Killer table, killer price.

ALPS Mountaineering Camp Table

ALPS Mountaineering Camp Table

Rating for this product: 4 May 11, 2007

I've used this table quite a few times on car camping trips and I'm very pleased. It packs small (bag included) and sets up fast. The really nice detail is it's all aluminum, so you can cook on it, unlike vinyl roll-up tables, and it cleans up good as new. For the price it's comparable to tables twice the price. You know you want one!

Killer sofshell that keeps you warm and dry.

The North Face Apex Free Line Jacket - Men's

The North Face Apex Free Line Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2006

First glances reveal an midweight ultra minimal design while sporting roomy dual napoleon pockets & dual handwarmer pockets, enough storage room for the essentials. Took this out in stormy conditions with very heavy winds, and surprisingly stayed warm and dry...really changed my perception of what a pro style softshell can do for you. Fit is semi-snug without being too tight or bulky. If you are looking for a high end softshell, consider this one of the best on the market.

Great headlamp. You should own it.

Petzl Tikka Headlamp

Petzl Tikka Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2006

I own this headlamp as well as the Black Diamond Zenix IQ. I find myself using this headlamp almost primarily because of its simplicity. The batteries last forever and it gets bright enough for task lighting around camp, which is what this was designed for.

Comfy, great fit and warm.

Burton Outlast Midweight Bottom - Men's

Burton Outlast Midweight Bottom - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 14, 2006

These are by far the most versatile bottom base layer in my collection. From medium temps (35?F) to very cold days (-10?F) these keep me toasty as well as super comfy. The elastic waist is not too binding yet holds firm, so the powder monkeys don't find their way down the back of your pants! Also the slightly shorter cut on the leg is great, IE: perfect sock/bottom overlap when stuffing into your boots.

Bomber coffee every time!

GSI Outdoor Javapress - 10 oz

GSI Outdoor Javapress - 10 oz

Rating for this product: 4 December 14, 2006

This has got to be one of the best camping innovations of its time. If you like coffee like I do, it's becomes crucial you get a nice hot, strong cup ASAP, and this little press delivers. Also very easy to clean and the lexan construction is tuff. FYI: I even used it for 2 months at home when my espresso machine broke. The only reason I gave it 4 of 5 is the tiny filter screen at the pour spout gets clogged very easily.

Best spork on the planet.

GSI Outdoor Piranha Foon

GSI Outdoor Piranha Foon

Rating for this product: 5 December 14, 2006

This killer spork has downsized my utensil stash, now no need for a fork and a spoon! It grabs like a fork when you need it, but is large enough to sip your soup from. The best part is it's durable and very easy to clean. The clip is nice too, for connecting to your knife or multi-tool, when organizing for trips.

Best all around glasses ever!

Smith Sequel 2 Sunglasses - Interchangeable

Smith Sequel 2 Sunglasses - Interchangeable

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2006

I have a small-medium face and these glasses fit perfect, love them! I previously owned a pair of Toasters for the last 6 years, and they have a similar size fit to these. The rubber bumpers on the ear/nosepiece ensure 100% non-slippage. And not to mention the style, these look sick! And oh BTW, you can change lenses, so make this your last pair of shades, period.

Smith Fuse Regulator Series Goggles

Smith Fuse Regulator Series Goggles

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2006

Been rocking these goggles all season and I absolutely love them. The fit is amazing, they don't fog and the sensor mirror lenses are the bomb. I have the Saiman Chow artist version, so they get mad style points as well.

Carhartt Loose-Fit Canvas Carpenter Denim Pant - Men's

Carhartt Loose-Fit Canvas Carpenter Denim Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2006

These pants have a timeless design. They probably look the same on the farmer who wore them in the 1930's, as they do on me! Very comfortable and durable fabric to boot, nice fit. I just need a pair for every day of the week.

DAKINE Travel Kit

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2006

Now I can finally ditch the ziplock turkey bag I've been using for the last 3 years, yay! This travle kit is compact, yet it keeps unfolding with pockets galore. When my relatives see this bag hanging on their door, they will think I've finally made it to the big time, thanks DaKine!

Very nice jacket — insanely inexpensive.

The North Face Decagon Jacket - Men's

The North Face Decagon Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 5, 2006

I am very impressed with this jacket! It's got a sweet fit, pockets galore, pit zips, powder skirt, and a soft interior, but yet it's a light shell and not bulky with insulation. I do wish this jacket had a more adjustable hood...but I'd recommend it anyway. For it's price, it's something I can live with.

Bomber gloves

Burton Pinnacle XCR Under Glove - Men's

Burton Pinnacle XCR Under Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 5, 2006

These gloves are absolutely bomber. Went out last week in -10 temps and forgot the inner liners they come with and thought I was screwed. But to my surprise I had no issues with my hands staying warm. I don't know how they do it because these gloves are very thin (almost like spring gloves) but are ultra toasty. Stinky D gives them 2 thumbs up!
