good ultralight 1 human tent...

Big Agnes Emerald Mountain SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-person 3-Season

Big Agnes Emerald Mountain SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 September 25, 2008

i have used this tent twice so far, both on two day backpacking trips in cold but mostly dry weather.
WEIGHT: it is THE lightest weight one human tent that i have found.
SPACE: i am 5' 1" and fit in this tent with my 3,000 cubic inch pack & my beagle, and had just a little space to spare. PACKED SIZE: good size to be able to fit inside or outside a pack.
WATER TEST: didn't get the chance to test it in the rain... just a few sprinkles, so can't say if it keeps the H2O out.
DOORS: the tent entry is big and its a side door instead of a front door BUT when unzipped, it sits on the floor instead of to the side, so you end up stepping on it.
VESTIBULE SPACE: there are several inches between the vestibule and the ground, enough space for rain to get in if coming down at an angle, so i wouldn't trust putting stuff right up against the vestibule wall.
OTHER: they make a footprint for this tent.
OVERALL: good tent for what's out there now in the ultralight one person tent category.

perfect!

Osprey Packs Xenon 85 Backpack - Women's - 4700-5100cu in

Osprey Packs Xenon 85 Backpack - Women's - 4700-5100cu in

Rating for this product: 5 September 25, 2008

wow!!! not only does this pack look cool, but it also has almost everything i need.
HYDRATION: it has a removable "pouch" for a water bladder... you take the straps off the bottom of the bag, connect them to the pouch & you can carry your water bladder on your back for day hiking & leave the pack at base camp. cons... when it rains on the day hike, the wet pouch either has to go back in the pack, or there is no place for the water bladder.
DETACHABLE PACK: lid turns into a fanny pack with its own belt. nice feature, not too comfortable, but i'm not a fanny pack fan.
VOLUME: room for all my backpacking gear on a two day solo trip (among other things included a thermarest, a sleeping bag with no compression straps & an extra sleeping bag for my beagle)... with the big agnes emerald mountain SL1 tent strapped to the outside. there was even extra space inside!
POCKETS while hiking: one pocket on each side. one is zippered & the other is a stuff pocket only. the stuff pocket will actually hold snack bars and tp without falling out.
OVERALL: the most comfortable backpacking pack i've ever owned... this one is a keeper!!!

cute boot with little to offer

Nitro Barrage TLS Snowboard Boot - Women's

Nitro Barrage TLS Snowboard Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 January 9, 2008

this is a really cute snowboard boot. however, it did not fit my foot well... lots of room in the toe box (even for someone who wears wide NB shoes), no ankle hold, and some pressure points in the front foot... this may or may not apply to others as boot fit is very personal. MOST IMPORTANTLY, this lacing system pretty much s----. its a really good idea that doesn't actually function. the cams do not catch the lace when pulling straight up gently (or with more force) as the instructions state. the cams in this boot may have been defective, or they could just globally s----. don't know for sure, only tried one pair of boots.

TNF always rocks for us short girls!

The North Face Freedom Pant - Women's

The North Face Freedom Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 9, 2008

am 5'1" about 107 w/ a smaller waist & large quadriceps... bought the XS short pant in the moonlight ivory.
great fit, not too tight even with the lauren 686 vitals midweight AND lightweight thermal capris.
i couldn't find any other manufacturers other than TNF who offer pants in short length.
only downside of these pants... no attachment to TNF jackets to keep out the SNOW! they are a little higher above the waist to help with this, but its just not the same.
FYI: if your a hiker try the TNF paramount porter convertible pants... AWESOME!

try it with the k2 moment snowboard

K2 Bliss Snowboard Binding - Women's

K2 Bliss Snowboard Binding - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 9, 2008

am a beginner snowboarder, bought with the K2 moment snowboard.
don't have much experience to know how they ride, but they keep my feet on the board.
they seem to be pretty solid, not cheap & flimsy.
tried mediums with a size 7 boot at the advise of the gear people. bindings had WAY too much extra strap when cinched down.
would recommend a small even with a size 7 boot.
