  • Stomping Grounds:

    The Foothills of North Carolina
  • Bio:

I live 5 minutes from work, so I save my trusty Volvo wagon for serious days, but most days I use my Specialized bike, my MADASS or my own two feet and a backpack to get me where I need to go. Life is my adventure and the world my oyster. Backcountry just provides a little icing on the cake from time to time.

    Cheers!

Serfas Expandable Saddle Bag

Serfas Expandable Saddle Bag

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2008

Previously I purchased the small SERFAS saddle bag and was really unhappy with it (it was tiny). With a little more research this time around, THIS ONE is JUST RIGHT. It's not huge, but there is enough room (comfortably) inside to hold car keys, a cell phone, a snack and some money / slim wallet (may or may not even need to expand it). The expansion feature gives it just enough additional space to add your partners cell & keys as well. Don't think huge, think compact but great use of space. The other nice thing v/s some of the others is that this SERFAS bag is waterproof (not water resistant). So if you are biking in the rain...you are good to go. THIS ONE is well worth the bucks. Grab this one and don't waste your time on the other. Also: Other reviews are noting how it hangs under the bike seat. You won't have any problem what so ever UNLESS you ride with your seat really, really close to the base of the frame (/ tire). It's just not that large a saddle bag.

The "IT" Sandals

Chaco ZX/1 Sandal - Girls'

Chaco ZX/1 Sandal - Girls'

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2008

I purchased these Chacos for my dauaghter who is 5yrs (size 1) and they are awesome! The colors are vibrant and happy, the quality of the shoes are remarkable (just like the adult shoe) and she says they are really comfy. There is a little bit of room between her foot and the straps so she can either wear socks or just barefoot (they hang on fine without any rubbing). They great thing is that she can put them on herself and there is only ONE strap to pull down snug. If you didn't grab a pair of these, you SO missed out. I am getting ready to get another pair one size up so she will have them for later. ROCK ON!!

So MUCH watch for the money

Nixon Scout Leather Watch - Men's

Nixon Scout Leather Watch - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 11, 2008

My boyfriend is world traveled so he knows a great thing when he sees it. But he is ALSO very minimalistic and into the "nut and bolts" of things. I own a Nixon so I scouted one out for him for Father's Day. This one was perfect. The band is wide enough to be stylish without looking ridiculous. The silver components are durable and not too shiny. He LOVES IT!! Go for the Black band / White face (I initially got what I thought was a black band / black face, but it ended up having a brown band. Maybe ok for someone younger but but I didn't like the black on brown at all.)

Also note worthy - I have purchased numerous items from Backcountry and their Customer Service is bar none. I can't say enough fabulous things about them and totally recommend them to all my friends due to their excellent service. Thanks gearheads!!!!

Pretty, Comfy, but Expensive.

Patagonia Vitaliti Pant - Women's

Patagonia Vitaliti Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 21, 2007

Ok, if you were interested in buying these what would you want to know? Well they are super Patagonia quality. They are an extremely soft organic cotton, perfect length (I'm 5'6 and they fit me great) and so far no shrinkage. I am also a 30 year old mom, so I wanted a pair of pants that were versatile. These sit low enough on the hips to be stylish, but not SO low that you can't squat down. The front pockets are sleek not bulky and overall pant looks good dress up or worn casual. I might like them a tad more fitted throughout the thigh. The ONLY downside is that they are STINKING expensive. So if you're a Patagonia person, then go them. But all in all there is not Patagonia Logo except on the inside of the pants so no one is going to know you spent big bucks for these simple black pants and I bet you can get something similiar and as comfortable for less money with backcountry. If you can afford them, you'll love them. But if you can't them don't sweat it, buy something else from these guys and you will be equally as happy.

Very Girly

The North Face Ryan Jacket - Girls'

The North Face Ryan Jacket - Girls'

Rating for this product: 5 January 5, 2007

I purchased this jacket for my daughter (4yrs). She is tall and the Girls' XS worked fit well with another years room to grow. It seems to be cut a tad different then the picture shows. The actual item seem to be a bit cropped in length and the arm length longer. It was perfect for my daughter (flipped sleeves up 1X), but note on an older girl it might seem shorter in length. I bought one in EVERY color however and vote YES!!

The North Face Geo Mesh Hooded Sweatshirt - Women's

The North Face Geo Mesh Hooded Sweatshirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2006

I have ordered several clothing items from Backcountry and this is by far one of my favorites. It is rather thin but keeps me warm. I LOVE the thumb holes, and it zips up high enough to keep the wind away from my ears when the hood it up. Would buy more if other colors were available.

The North Face Prolix Delta Short - Women's

The North Face Prolix Delta Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2006

I wear these shorts ALL the time! They are VERY comfortable, have a bit of stretch and the material keeps the sweat away. I would mention though that I wear a size 4 and in these shorts should have purchased a 2.
