Petzl Freelock Fixed Leash

Petzl Freelock Fixed Leash

These do the trick, no fumbling with buckles or clasps, to get in and out of the leash. Simple one handed operation.

If you have big hands (as I do), you might be wishing for a bit more coverage on the padding around the wrist loop, but not a huge deal, thats what gloves are for.

The king of screws

Black Diamond Turbo Ice Screws

Black Diamond Turbo Ice Screws

Rating for this product: 4 January 11, 2008

Black Diamond screws are the best hands down.

Petzl's may have all sorts of gimicks, Grivels feel a bit sharper when new, and OP screws might be a bit easier on the wallet, but for long term use, and a screw that keeps its bite year after year, these are the goods.

Just Buy This

Superfeet Trim-To-Fit Wintergreen Insole

Superfeet Trim-To-Fit Wintergreen Insole

Rating for this product: 5 January 11, 2008

If you haven't discovered the joys of superfeet yet, buy a pair now.
My feet are ruined from a youth spent falling off of boulder problems, and I am unable to stand barefoot for more than 10 minutes at a time.
I bought these and have never looked back, comfort and bliss for my mountaineering boots, work boots and snowboard boots.
Hell and they even outlast the boots you put them in.

Classic Aid Gear

Black Diamond Lost Arrow Pitons

Black Diamond Lost Arrow Pitons

Rating for this product: 5 January 11, 2008

Well lets put it this way, the design remains unchanged after fifty years. Does that mean it is outdated? No! It meanns that there is nothing to improve.
For the competent mountaineers to the Big Wall Pirate, these are tools of the trade.
NOTE: This is not the gear to buy if you are just starting out rockclimbing.
