Time to wake up!!! I'll sleep when I'm dead. Too much to see and experience. Take it all in. Hit the (hydraulic) brakes sometimes and just stop. Smell the roses. Hear the wind in the trees. See if you can actually watch a tree fall in the forest. Get some dirt underneath your fingernails. Build a really big leaf pile in October and jump in it. Carve some pumpkins and shoot the slippery seeds accross the kitchen floor. You got waterproof boots? Great, jump in the creek and get em' wet! Whatever you do, don't wear a speedo on the beach. Keep it moving.

Arc'teryx Stinger Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Stinger Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I just received my new Stinger jacket. I was hesitant to purchase this jacket primarily due to the cost however after reading numerous online reviews, tried it on at a local outdoor shop I was sold. Its top of the line bomb proof. Quality construction all around. Fit is perfect. Wore it last night in pouring rain and nothing gets through it. Cant wait for the snow to fall. This piece of clothing I will have/use for a very long time.

Backcountry.com Stoic Inbounds Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 28, 2009

Excellent product all around. Extremely comfortable glove. I would suggest some kind of liner. Not the warmest glove out there but they are warm. Looking for a liner now for extremely cold days. Couldnt be happier with my purchase though. Nice job Backcountry.com!

Marmot Leadville Softshell Jacket - Men's

December 24, 2008

Would/could this jacket work for mountain biking? I've been looking to get something to put over a wool baselayer for winter/cold temp riding. I love Pearl Izumi but Marmot seems to be a lot more functional. Any feedback would be great.

Great

Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Zip T - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Zip T - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 20, 2008

Great shirt. Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because it didnt have a pocket. Minor issue. Warm as heck. Eliminates wearing too many layers under a jacket. Can easily be worn on chilly spring/fall days as well. I'll get a lot of use out of it.

Excellent

Montrail Hurricane Ridge XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Montrail Hurricane Ridge XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2008

Shoe is excellent. Wear it to the gym, running outside in rain, snow, sun. Perfect lightweight hiker as well. Only gripe is at times it's tough to put on due to the Gore-Tex and the sock-like structure. Once it's on it aint going anywhere. STRONG TIP: Buy a 1/2 size larger than what you normally would wear. For whatever reason Montrail makes the shoe small. I'm normally a 10 and went with 10 1/2. Shoe is great.

Not Great

Osprey Packs Switch 16 Pack - 900-1000cu in

Osprey Packs Switch 16 Pack - 900-1000cu in

Rating for this product: 2 January 11, 2008

The pack is small. There is no way a helmet will fit in the top lid compartment, no way. Website is extremely deceiving. Pack is relatively small. It does have 2 compartments inside however it doesnt really expand well. Better packs out there. This site's support is second to none however. Returning this bag. Should of gone with one of the larger packs but too late now.

Nice Jacket

Patagonia Rubicon Rider Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Rubicon Rider Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 31, 2007

This is a nice jacket. Was a little skeptical at first but once I tried it on its really nice. The pics here don't do it justice. Put it to the test during a freezing rain, sleet then dumping a foot of snow ski day. Jacket shed off all the elements, kept me warm and dry. Only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it doesn't have pit zips. A minor gripe, this jacket will be worn on cold days only but would be THE ultimate jacket if it had pit zips. See if you can find it in a local shop then buy through this site though. The quality is second to none.

Best and Warmest out there

Black Diamond Guide Glove - Men's

Black Diamond Guide Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 31, 2007

These are by far the best and warmest gloves out there. I've tried them all but these are my cold day go to glove. Quality is second to none. Worth every penny. Once the goatskin palms get even more broken in forget it. Pass these down to generations. Quality all around.

Best out there and yes, the visor works

Giro 2008 G10 MX Helmet

Giro 2008 G10 MX Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 December 31, 2007

By far the best looking and comfortable helmet out there. Vents have 3 adjustments, closed, half closed, fully open. Rear adjustment actually works well. The visor actually helps keep down glare and brushed away some tree branches after I was doing mach 10 down a tree shute. Warm earpads. This is my helmet. By a size smaller. Normally I would have gone with a large but the medium is perfect.

Let Down

Giro 2008 Omen Helmet

Giro 2008 Omen Helmet

Rating for this product: 1 October 26, 2007

I bought this helmet and returned this helmet. Good luck trying to keep your $100 goggles on this melon. The back goggle latch is cheap and doesn't hold your goggles well. Why anyone would manufacture a $200 helmet and not give you a goggle latch that just snap shut is beyond me. Crap.

Not as good as Teva's

Reef Leather Fanning Sandal - Men's

Reef Leather Fanning Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 27, 2007

I got these flip flops the other day. Overall not bad just not as comfortable as Teva. Thinner soles, I question the durability of the leather. Finally, as for the infamous bottle opener, yes, it is a conversation piece however if your shoe is not clean (no dog poop) its pretty disgusting. To open a bottle you really have to take the shoe off or the bottle will explode on you. My new shoes already smell like Sam Adams. Time and adventures with these will only tell. I've had my Teva's for many years with no problems so they have big shoes to fill. No pun intended.

Poor Warmth

Marmot Ultimate Ski Glove

Marmot Ultimate Ski Glove

Rating for this product: 2 March 12, 2007

These gloves are made very well however I didn't find them to be all that warm. I was in desperate need of new ski gloves, did some research and purchased these expensive gloves. After several days skiing in frigid cold temps in VT & UT my fingers froze all times. I finally went to a local ski shop & purchased a pair of Gordini soft shell gloves which were/are much warmer then these gloves. I should of gone with the Black Diamond Guide I think. They are made well, the leather seems to be tough to break however only time will tell. If temps are anywhere between 25-30 I think they're ok, anything colder forget it.

Decent gloves but.....

Mountain Hardwear Snowpro Glove

Mountain Hardwear Snowpro Glove

Rating for this product: 5 January 31, 2007

I bought these gloves after I trashed a pair of Grandoe's which were pretty good. I thought if I went with the leather that Mountain Hardware raved about they would be good. They are decent gloves but as other reviewers have posted they don't breath very well especially on bluebird days. Also, which I found the ultimate annoyance, if you're sitting on a chairlift and you take your hand out its almost impossible to get them back in. The fleece liner which is removable is too big for the glove. The fingers get all bunched up and to try to get it straight is a pain. They are fine work gloves as long as you don't take them off but I wouldn't buy these again.

Good Goggles

Smith Prodigy Goggles

Smith Prodigy Goggles

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2007

Overall very happy with my purchase. I bought the rose tint and they worked great during a dump we had last week. No problems whatsoever. The Smith Prodigy helmet is another story though. Helmet is fine but Smith needs to make the latch in the back hold the goggle strap better. Cant snap it shut like a Giro.

Nice

Smith Holt Helmet

Smith Holt Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 December 21, 2006

Nice helmet all around. I was a bit skeptical buying this helmet. Skied with a Giro 9 for years. Always happy with Giro but after recently purchasing the new Smith Prodigy goggle and doing a little research on my own it seemed that this helmet would fit better with my goggles. The helmet is not bulky, its comfortable, in many respects very similar to the Giro but fits better with my goggles and the look is pretty cool. My only concern and I'd be curious to see if anyone else has a problem with it is the goggle latch in the back. It doesn't snap shut around the Prodigy's strap like the Giro 9 did. The goggle doesn't appear to slide off from behind easily (like the Giro Omen-nightmare) but if I encounter this problem while making turns I will send it back. Not going to risk losing money on pair of goggles because of poor design by the helmet manufacturer. I don't understand why Smith or any helmet manufacturer would make a helmet that doesn't offer a secure goggle latch. Other than that it's a good helmet.

Could Be Better

Giro Omen Wireless Audio Series Helmet

Giro Omen Wireless Audio Series Helmet

Rating for this product: 2 December 18, 2006

I recently purchased this helmet and then returned it. Biggest problem is the goggle notch in the back. It does not snap shut like other Giro helmets to prevent goggles from slipping off. Defintely something Giro has to fix, especially at this price tag. I have the Smith Prodigy goggle and the plastic buckle would never stay behind the clasp. Dont need a $100 pair of goggle snapping off my head as I am doing mach 10.

Best of the Best

Volkl Unlimited AC4 Titanium Alpine Ski w/ Motion iPT 12.0 Piston Binding

Volkl Unlimited AC4 Titanium Alpine Ski w/ Motion iPT 12.0 Piston Binding

Rating for this product: 5 October 20, 2006

I demo'd this ski in March of 06. The AC4 is nothing short of incredible. 82 mm waist along with the Marker Piston binding system is the best. Period. This ski can handle anything you throw at it. Pow, crust, ice, groomers, kills everything. The best thing is probably the energy this ski has. When you start really moving and carving the ski kicks in to another level. All I can say is demo the ski and make your own comments. I can assure you you won't regret it.

Light, Fast & Supportive

Montrail Vitesse Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Montrail Vitesse Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 17, 2006

I was very skeptical before purchasing this shoe. I pretty much went off of a lot of other reviews of it. All I can say is after trying several other brands out there this shoe is by far the best I have had. I didnt want the Gortex; it breaks down and doesn't breath all that well. This shoe is just fantastic. I've put several miles already on it. Trail, pavement, hiking, etc, it does it all. No issues with the size, they're pretty much true accross the board. This seriously could be the best trail runner I have owned in a very long time. Customer service support was excellent as well here. Very happy with my purchase. I highly recommend it.
