Perfectly avoids messy wax/klister

Got these to use in Steamboat backcountry for tours of rolling hills and easy climbs especially for warm weather where I didn't want to deal with the mess of warm weather wax or klister. These are perfect!!! I got the 80mm skin for my Coomback 105mm waist...a perfect size. Better glide and easier to remove and store than my full length climbing skins. Downhills were great since removing the kicker skin provided a much better descent than doing it with sticky waxes/klister.

Great AT binding

Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Plus Binding

Mounted these on K2 Coomback skis for AT touring and in-bounds powder/trees. Lightweight, handles hard charging crud and bumps. No pre-release issues even with stomping some small air. Backcountry usability is amazing and (IMHO) with better features than the Duke/Baron. Easy to adjust heel elevators on the fly with a quick click-in for the descent.

Best looking poles on the mountain

Love the bright green color...friends can definitely find me in a crowd. They seem bomb-proof so far. Swing weight is a bit heavier than expected but not noticeable while skiing. Biggest gripes are the slightly small wrist straps even on the loosest adjustment, and hand grips that are a tad too small for me. (just average male hands...not like a Yeti.)

I've got and used both. Similar warmth on frigid Steamboat days. BD guide glove is a bit bulkier (harder to slip into ski poles), but it's waterproof. I'd say if you have dry pow and aren't digging in the snow, get the Hestra. If you're snow is wetter or you're in the snow a lot...BD. I wear a medium in the BD glove and a size 9 in the Hestra 3-finger (but a size 10 in the Army leather spring...go figure.)

K2 Coomback Ski

2 Questions: I'm looking for a versatile ski for backcountry AT as well as skiing resort powder/tight trees in Steamboat. Is this the ski for me or should I be looking at the K2 Sidestash/others? Second: What's the best size for my needs? (I'm 5'6", 175lbs)

Osprey Packs Vector 22 Wheeled Carry-On Bag - 2800cu in

It has an adjustable clip/loop at top of the bag to attach other gear/bags. The handle is a good width to accept "slip-over" bags. I haven't seen any Osprey brand companion bags. I just bought the eagle creek "in-flight companion" which fits over the handle very nicely.

Ultralight bombproof

Osprey Packs Vector 22 Wheeled Carry-On Bag - 2800cu in

I bought this bag for international travel where I didn't need a backpack and wanted something lighter than my Osprey Meridian convertible bag. The bag is super-light and has great capacity. There's a "hidden" section on the backside of the bag, where the backpack straps would be located on the Meridian. (Great place to shove your dirty clothes/gear to keep it separate from the clean main compartment.) The wheels are bombproof with very high clearance. I was dragging this thing quickly over cobblestones, railroad tracks, high curbs and pot-holed street... no problems! It fits great in airplane overhead compartments and the light weight is welcome in lifting it over your head. You'll love it!
