Lange RX 130 Ski Boot - Men's

As someone who has tried pretty much every boot on the market in the last 6 or 7 years, I can say this is hands down the best boot ever made for people who like to freeride and demand fit, performance, and comfort. I am almost in disbelief at how good this boot is because I thought it was impossible to have a boot fit and ski as well as this does and not be exceedingly uncomfortable and cold. I have a couple days skiing in them and I barely have to unbuckle them when I'm not skiing they feel so good. The liners are super good quality and don't seem to break down and pack out. They don't need to, these boots already have the best heel pocket i've ever felt. They fit tight in all the right places and yet I can wiggle my toes around (so they are reasonably warm!) I am just wearing them straight out of the box, no mods or work (like ever other boot I have ever worn), just my regular custom footbeds. I can sprint in these with the nice vibram soles too! Flex is a legit 130, not so stiff that they don't flex at all, they just have excellent rebound and power.

Worth noting- looks like they updated the info here from the old inaccurate beta that the previous reviewer indicated regarding the last. The last is in fact 97mm, not 98 though. It is not uber narrow in the forefoot as one might think with a 97mm last, just regular narrow like most boots in the 98mm range. Actually I have to punch out my 6th toe on most 98mm lasted boots and I don't think I will have to on these. They fit tight like a glove in all the right places around the heel, ankle and instep though.

I have been going back and forth with Race boots that I had to do a lot of work on and freeride boots that were CS race/98mm last and fit in all the wrong places or had other performance issues over the last several years. I have tried enough to know good a good thing when I see it. These are hand down the best boots I've ever skied!

It fits a little wide for a 97 last in the forefoot. (the Ghosts are supposed to be a 98 btw, not a 97, yet these are roomier across the metatarsal). The fit everywhere else is ROCK SOLID as tmac noted. They fit tight in all the right places!

You need this ski Jen! It sounds like you are going to out ski most female specific skis on the market. Most of them are not legit, as you've noticed and the few that are just have a prettier topsheet on the regular men's skis. If you are getting after it and skiing aggressively a 163 is too short for you anyway. You would definitely be comfortable on the 170's in these. I'm 5'8 and 150 and I ski the 184s so I would say based on your stats a 170 would be easy to ski and give you a lot more to work with! Have fun!
