Scarpa Freney XT GTX Mountaineering Boots - Men's

March 12, 2009

Hi Scott, I have a pair of these and spent last three seasons in them, single or two pitch ice and mixed climbing (in NE). Freney is very light and super stiff. Only shoes lighter would be fruit boots

Scarpa Vision V Climbing Shoe

Scarpa Vision V Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 October 26, 2007

Get them a little bit extra tight otherwise there is give in the heel. i love these shoes. they really are one shoe for all climbs. although i don't get to climb slab routes so I've no clue about that. perfect for cracks. my street shoe size is 9 and for me these in size 8 (41) work.

i love this cam, fits hand jam cracks perfectly and now there in finger cracks. i used my buddy's BD cams also and don't notice any differences. they're just as good if not better. not to mention friends are cheaper and come with a awesome wire biner :)

La Sportiva Venom Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Venom Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 June 21, 2007

i love these shoes. i can put my weight confidently on the tiniest of footholds.
make sure they fit tight, and they'll get very comfortable once you wear them in.
- good for vertical, overhanging
- bad for crack climbing
- opposite to what i was told, they work fine for slabs, i have climbed 5.10 slab in them just fine.

Petzl Fakir Crampon Carrying Bag

Petzl Fakir Crampon Carrying Bag

Rating for this product: 5 December 8, 2006

I have a pair of Petzl Sarkens that i use them for. It stores them but its more a nuisance than asset. I put crampons on the outside of my bag instead of inside so I dont use it anymore.

Julbo Arctic Sunglasses

Julbo Arctic Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 December 6, 2006

They’re great glasses but fit a bigger head, they’re a little loose but it’s too work much work to return/exchange them :). Quite dark and not good for daily stuff around town but good at what they’re made for. I'm using them a lot in White Mountains and ice climbing crags.

They are really really good at what they are made for. I can look straight at the sun without any fear. The lenses are dark and not good for driving if it’s cloudy. The frame is big and has be worn really close to the eyes otherwise it moves which is irritating; it took some getting used to.
