Mountain Khakis Alpine Utility Pant - Men's

Mountain Khakis Alpine Utility Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 8, 2008

I got these pants for bushwhacking and after wearing these for 2 weeks straight I have found them to be superb. I have brought them deep into the woods for bushwhacking and sliding across trees to cross rivers, they are super durable and you wont feel any briars. I live in a windy area and these bad boys cut the wind down significantly. The pants do ride higher than say hipster pants but I don't find them to be uncomfortable, they sit a good 1.5 inches below my naval. I am 5'10, 155lbs and found that a 32x30 fits me perfect. The color is true to the picture. They are easily brushed off to keep clean so I have had no problem getting really dirty and then wearing them around the next day. As a cotton pant though, when wet they due take time to dry so I wouldn't recommend them for really wet bushwhacking as you may get cold (not to mention possible chaffing). All around tough pair of pants though, love the extra pockets and will be getting another pair soon.

Arc'teryx Beta AR Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Beta AR Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 10, 2007

This jacket is great. There is plenty of neck room so when you zip it up you aren't choking when you lift the hood up, unlike my Marmot oracle. The Gore-tex Pro is super breathable. Zippers are tough and general design principles seem to be really well thought through. For instance when you draw the hood closed the straps aren't flying out in your face, they pull nicely through gussets that keep them clean. Really nice jacket, well worth the price. One thing is that it only comes about an inch below the top of your hip bone but the cinch cord shuts it down so air cant get up in there. I look forward to testing it out with a New Hampshire winter!
