best pump

Katadyn Vario Dual Technology MicroFilter

Katadyn Vario Dual Technology MicroFilter

Rating for this product: 5 May 18, 2009

Bought this pump last year. Used it a few times and am impressed. The water pumps pretty fast once it's going and does not strain your arm like some other pumps can. This pump is worth the money and the little extra weight over some other pumps.

great for balance

MSR Trillium Stove Base

MSR Trillium Stove Base

Rating for this product: 5 May 18, 2009

I have a pocket rocket and the stove gets top heavy when you are boling water. This little base adds stability to the boiling pot. It makes so it doesn't feel like it is going to tip over. A definite must for anyone with a pocket rocket stove or a stove like it.

Switched from Merrell

Vasque Clarion GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Vasque Clarion GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 18, 2009

Bought these boots over the winter. Had a chance to use them in Arches National Park for the first time. Didn't get any blisters from the new boots. Used them again a couple weeks ago in the Stansbury range west of Salt Lake, conditions were really muddy. Feet stayed warm and dry, sprayed them off when I got home. I like these boots better than the Merrells I had the last couple of years, it feels like there is more support.

Love this tent

Black Diamond Vista 3-Person 3-Season Tent

Black Diamond Vista 3-Person 3-Season Tent

Rating for this product: 5 March 9, 2009

Bought this tent last summer, first time out I used it up in the Uintas in early July. Plenty of space. It rained a little and we stayed dry. The next time I used the tent was Valentines Day weekend this year. We were in Canyonlands National Park in the Island in the Sky District. It got down to about 20 degrees, it got a little cold in the tent, but then again this tent is not meant for that temperature. Frost formed inside the tent, but still it was pretty comfortable inside. The last time I used it was a week ago in Arches National Park, stayed nice and warm, it blocked the wind nicely. Haven't had any problems with it and I plan on using it for a week long hike in September in the Wind River Mountains.

Osprey Packs Argon 85 Backpack - 5100-5500cu in

Rating for this product: 5 March 9, 2009

I love how comfortable this pack is, it doesn't put pressure on my hips like my North Face pack did. Roomy enough to fit all my gear without smashing things.

Vaude Brenta 26 Backpack - 1585cu in

Rating for this product: 5 May 29, 2008

I bought this day pack a few weeks ago and so far it has been one the best packs I have ever owned. It has plenty of room for the longer day hikes and is also pretty light. I haven't found any flaw yet. If you are looking for a good day pack this is definately a pack to consider.
