Nice helmet, but not Five Star

Red Trace Helmet

Red Trace Helmet

Rating for this product: 3 March 1, 2009

I got this helmet for its simple and low profile look. It's good quality and is pretty warm for the most part. The issues I have had with it, are the ear-flaps constantly falling out of place mid run/especially after any downward force for landings and also the helmet clip for goggles is really flimsy and doesn't do much (but I guess that doesn't matter for those wearing their goggles inside their helmet). All in all, a good helmet, especially for the price, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Solid

Marker Duke Ski Binding

Marker Duke Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 February 25, 2009

Great bindings. Bought these mostly for charging woods with some occasional touring and I have them mounted on a pair of Katanas. Im 6'3 220lbs, ski agressively and have the DINs cranked up to 14. There is a fair amount of plastic in the Dukes, which had me nervous at first, but so far so good as far as holding up. I haven't released at all and the bindings have a good, solid feel when skiing hard and landing drops. No complaints either when having to ski groomers with them. Only toured in them a couple times and no complaints there either. Did have a little of the ice build up mentioned by others, but nothing that bothered me too much. All it all, a great downhill binding that is totally sufficient for some light tours.

Fischer Watea 94 Alpine Ski

February 20, 2009

Can anyone shed some light on the stiffness of the ski and its edge hold on some firmer N'Eastern groomers? I know these aren't ideal conditions for the ski, but just curious as to how they hold up if put in the conditions...Thanks.

One burly, kickass boot.

Lange Banshee Pro Ski Boot - Men's

Lange Banshee Pro Ski Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 24, 2008

As to be expected from Lange - one hell of a boot. This is my third pair of Langes over the past 7 or so seasons and love this one even more than the previous two (120 Comp and 120 WC). Just like the others, this is a quick, responsive boot with tons of power that has a snug fit. It has a nice high cuff and progressive, but stiff flex that provides and transmits a load of power to the ski. The thick, elastic power strap is an sweet addition allowing the the boot to be really cinched down, almost better than a Booster strap which Ive had on my previous boots. Like the 120 WC, not the most fun to take on or off as they too have a hell of a bite, but it's a small price to pay for the performance. Lastly to top everything off, the boot has a nice clean, classic look. Nothing fancy or shiny like some of the other gimmicky/cheesy looking boots out there. Can't speak highly enough of these.
