The North Face Ultra 103 XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

For those who need a solid and reliable light runner/hiker, this shoe is for you. I hike Mount Werner in summer/fall, and Emerald Mountain in winter/spring, and various other hikes in Colorado on marked trails. This shoe works well in all weather and keeps you warm and dry in winter with a good sock (Thorlo's are great). If you move fast, and need to fly over rocky terrain, you can count on this shoe, of course I also hike with trekking poles which is like having four feet and gives you a total body workout. I can only hope that North Face will one day make trekking poles, because I haven't found a pair yet that can withstand my aggressive style of hiking.

The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant - Women's

The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 28, 2006

These pants fit like custom-made pants, for me anyways. I have them in three colors, and I use them every time I hike. My hiking style is fast, and aggressive, so I don't want to deal with any discomfort from my clothing while I'm trying to get up the mountain a few minutes faster than the day before. With these pants, I can focus on my workout, and I like the zippered pocket on the left leg to slip my lip balm into, it’s very convenient. Also, if you happen to be doing an easier hike and then going to lunch, they are nice enough to wear into most casual eateries—as long as you're not covered in dirt.
