The lock housings are a little pricey on top of the piece of equipment being purchased, but it's worth it in my opinion for peace of mind. Not having to worry whether or not your equipment is going to be stolen is worth it in my opinion.

Yakima Tie Down

Yakima Bow/Stern Tie Down

Yakima Bow/Stern Tie Down

Rating for this product: 5 May 22, 2006

I use the tie downs I purchased here to accompany the Yakima Kayak Stacker. The tie down works great. It was easy to set up and adds to the safety of the kayak during transportation. I highly recommend using this to accompany the kayak stacker.

Kayak Stacker

Yakima Kayak Stacker 1 Pair

Yakima Kayak Stacker 1 Pair

Rating for this product: 5 May 22, 2006

I've only used the kayak stacker to transport 1 kayak about 9 feet in length, accompanied with the Yakima bow/stern tie downs. It holds the yak very tightly. I've driven only several miles, but have not had any problems thus far. (Knock on wood.) Everything fits snug and secure as long as you follow the instructions. Supposedly you can use the stacker for up to four kayaks or two canoes. I plan on purchasing a second kayak for my girlfriend, and there is definitely enough room and strap length to support both securely.
