Fun, playful, yet poppy

Salomon Suspect Ski

Salomon Suspect Ski

Rating for this product: 5 March 13, 2009

Ive ridden the Dumont from last year and since there was a ton of edge missing from rails, i looked out for a new ski. I took a look at the Suspect, and took the plunge. Not riding a park ski through me off a bit, but getting back into the swing of it, the ski rocks. I mounted at True center and i wouldn't recommend any other spot. The ski is uber lightweight, has tons of pop to it so ollieing onto a rail or box is no issue. The flex of the ski is what surprised me as its semi-stiff. I figured that I wouldn't dig it that much since i'm used to the softer dumont, but in fact when you're on the ski, it adapts to what your doing and accommodates the flex for it. The ski kicks butt and slays the park. Really there isn't another park ski out there that I would rather be on.

Super versatile

K2 Hellbent Alpine Ski

K2 Hellbent Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 March 2, 2009

one word to describe the hellbent is "wow." I was very impressed on how well this ski worked. Granted I used it on a day with about 1-2" of pow, this thing stood up and worked great everywhere. The traditional sidecut really showed me that this "rocker" can be used on groomers, and feel somewhat safe. I've ridden the Armada ARG, the Moment Donner Party, and now this rocker. By far the Hellbent wins in the versatility category. I just wish I had more snow to see how well they skied in the deep stuff. I can only imagine...

4FRNT Skis MSP Alpine Ski

4FRNT Skis MSP Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 4 March 2, 2009

The MSP is 4frnt's signature all-mtn killer. that semi-wide 92 waist allows for some float, even in minimal snow accumulation. I rode this ski yesterday at Snowbird, and it powered through crud, and destroyed everything. The sidecut to it allows for some easy carving if you find yourself on the groomers. All in all- you can take this ski all over the mtn and not feel out of place.

Big Troub vs. MSP

Dynastar Big Trouble Limited Alpine Ski

Dynastar Big Trouble Limited Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 4 March 2, 2009

I've already written a review regarding this ski, and I absolutely love it. I had the chance to try out some 4frnt MSPs, and I wanted to compare them for you all. Both skis kill it all over the mountain so its super hard in most cases to pick a ski in this category. The MSP was fun no doubt, but what it lacked, was that huge Shovel that the BT has making it easier to power through the crud. The big Trouble also has a stiffer flex so at higher speeds, its a more comfortable/easier to handle ski. Both skis are legit, but for someone who wants some re-assurance through crud, and like more stability at higher speeds, go with the BT.

Intense Lid

Smith Troy Lee Helmet

Smith Troy Lee Helmet

Rating for this product: 3 February 24, 2009

I wear a Medium in Smith Hustle so i would think that the M/L in the TLD lid would fit, as it did, but just a little snug. I guess with this helmet you want it pretty tight. As Drew mentioned, I found out that fogging was the main dislike of this helmet. Once I got going again, it did start to clear up a little, but since it was pretty cold, the fog froze and I had to deal.

All in all, the lid works great and offers awesome protection. I wore the Oakley Crowbars with this helmet, and it was a great fit. No gaps whatsoever. If I didn't have to wait in tram/lift lines and fog up, this would be my everyday helmet.

Jon Olsen Pro

Head Skis USA Head J.O. Pro Alpine Ski

Head Skis USA Head J.O. Pro Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 3 February 24, 2009

I didn't really know what to think when first getting on these skis. Flexing them before hitting the snow, i knew they had a tad soft flex which is nice for butters and presses. I feel that they were a tad too soft for my liking as I usually ride Suspects which have a little more stiffness and pop.

The flex through me off a little, but just messing around the mountain these were a ton of fun. As I mentioned, their softer flex really did well on rails and boxes, and theyre pretty light for popping off tables.

The contruction I would change up. Cap construction? Not a big fan of that. Graphics are ill with the fly lady eyeing you while you rip. Overall, solid ski with a soft flex. 3 out of 5.

Much better than Last years Oakley

Oakley Mystic Pant - Men's

Oakley Mystic Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 12, 2009

So i went on a whim and picked these up, already having last years Oakley Over the Top (OTT) bib. What a difference in these two pieces. Easily explained, the Mystic pant has all the style, tons of features including Recco and tons of pockets. Also has a magnet flap so that adds a little weight, but then you dont have to deal with crappy Velcro, and they have a great baggy fit. The material of the pant is also beefed up from last years, as it holds up better to my ski edges. The OTT bib was cut up on the cuffs in 1 day of use, ive used the Mystic about 10-15 days this seasaon so far and still in primo condition. The only down side to the pant is that its just a shell, so if you're rocking this in some chilly temps, layer up!

Great overall

Oakley Mystic Jacket - Men's

Oakley Mystic Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 12, 2009

The Mystic Jacket from oakley is one of their top of the line pieces. I decided to put my Oakley crash jacket in the closet and pick this up. The jacket is great, awesome fit to it, great venting, tons of pockets/features and it also has recco in it. I'm about 5'9/10 and I prefer a baggy fit so this is exactly what i was looking for. It leaves me with a great amount of room, without feeling all snug and gaper'd out.

Just a heads up, the jacket does not look as bright as it does in the stock pic.

DAKINE Edge Tuner Tool

great little tool, easy usage with it. Heads up if you use this after you wax, make sure to clean all the wax from your edges, it clogs the file up some. Other then that, great tool for the quick edge tune

Smith 2007 Variant Brim Snow Helmet

Smith 2007 Variant Brim Snow Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 August 31, 2008

very good ventilation to this puppy. with 14 (i belive) vents, fogging is not an issue. other then that, the fit is great, and its taking a couple spills with me. The sliding closures to the vents get a little sticky sometimes and needs some elbow grease to open/close

Oakley Over The Top Pant - Men's

Oakley Over The Top Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 31, 2008

money pants no doubt, wasn't really into the whole dropping the bib on these, but these are just money on pow days so you don't get snow down your ass. Tons of pockets and great protection on them! A little wierd having the bib up and around your shoulders, but if thats what keeps the pow out, then it works for me.

DAKINE Bronco Glove

DAKINE Bronco Glove

Rating for this product: 3 August 31, 2008

this glove is sweet, low bulk and goretex, but the fingers frayed a little, and they just don't hold up as well as the Dakine Cobras. The full-leather on the cobra just lasts. If your looking for a quick fix to wet mittens and cold fingers, these will solve that for a season
