Prijon Touryak Kayak w/o Rudder

Prijon Touryak Kayak w/o Rudder

Rating for this product: 3 April 5, 2006

I've had my Touryak for a year and a half. It's a very good Kayak to start with...fairly stable. I fish off of my kayak with ease...I don't have to exert any effort to balance myself. It's also very maneuverable for its length. I rarely use my rudder and could probably paddle without it for the most part...but it does help on choppy and windy conditions. As far as speed goes, don't expect it to perform as good as any composite of the same length...its average in speed if you were to compare it to another plastic touring kayak. It's a good vessel to multi-day trip on. I've packed it with camping gear, approx. 150lbs of gear and it performed well. If you plan to portage with this kayak, forget it! I would invest on a kayak kart. At 58lbs, prepare to have an aching back after resting this beast over your shoulder for 5 minutes over rough terrain. However, the HTP plastic is super durable...I expect my Touryak to last me at least 12 years. The plastic is so thick and stiff, there is no sign of oil-canning. Overall, the construction is far superior to most plastic kayaks. Performance is average. Comfort is good. It's worth the price.
