SmartWool NTS Lightweight Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 7, 2010

This is a great base layer that wicks well and keeps from smelling bad on trips unlike synthetic. Smartwool makes very high quality gear and I have been very happy with everything I have bought from them.

Asolo Fugitive Gore-Tex Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 July 23, 2010

A very solid hiking boot. Great support and construction. The only improvements that might be made is a Vibram sole and maybe a little bit more shock absorption but with a good insole that is taken care of. I am very satisfied with them.

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 July 23, 2010

This helmet has served me well over the past couple of years. It does vent very well which makes temperature control easy. While it fits my head well, there is a gap between my goggles, which are made by Smith as well. I'd like to think that a company like Smith would make sure that wouldn't happened with their own goggles. It is also a very large helmet that makes you look like you have a space helmet on. In the future I think I will go for a different helmet that is a better value for the money.

Kestrel 68

Osprey Packs Kestrel 68 Backpack - 4000-4200cu in

Osprey Packs Kestrel 68 Backpack - 4000-4200cu in

Rating for this product: 4 July 23, 2010

There are lots of good things about this pack: quality materials, well made, just the right number of pockets and is comfortable. My only gripe is small, I don't like zippered sleeping bag compartments because in the Pacific Northwest it is necessary to line ones pack to keep things dry so it is useless, just a weak point in the pack that might leak. I cannot fault it too much though because I knew it had one before I bought it. The only other thing is I am not sure how well it carry heavy loads because I haven't loaded for a week or more trip yet.

Vans 106 Vulcanized Skate Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 3, 2010

These shoes are great except that I found that the soles are not very supportive or cushioning, a problem with most vans I have owned.

Arc'teryx Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 3, 2010

Lets just get it out there, this jacket rocks. It is super light weight but is still super toasty. It doesn't have pit zips but the fleece that makes up the side of the jacket and armpits help vent moisture and excess heat. The material on the out side is surprisingly water proof as well.

Best shell I have ever owned

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2010

This shell has everything you want without any needless extras. I have never gotten soaked through with this on, everything beads off. The fit of the jacket is also better than anything else I have tried on. The price tag is through the roof though, I waited till was marked down on sale. Arc'teryx can get away with selling it at price because no one else can match it.

Traverse Poles

Black Diamond Traverse Ski Poles

Black Diamond Traverse Ski Poles

Rating for this product: 4 February 2, 2010

These good simple adjustable ski poles. My only complaint is that they dont seem as sturdy as my old Leki's and the entire basket housing cracked and broke off on the fourth time out with them. BD's customer service sent me a new one and a replacement basket within a couple of days though so it was not a big deal.

Great Skis

Line Prophet 100 Ski

Line Prophet 100 Ski

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2010

The Line Prophet 100's do everything you can hope for with a fat all-mountain ski. They can cruise through any condition, expecially booming through crud. They are not the most nimble skis out there but that is because they have 100mm under foot.

Black Diamond Quantum 65 Pack - 3845-3967cu in

Rating for this product: 3 February 2, 2010

This pack is just how everyone has described. A simple but thoughtout design but made from very weak material. It is also not the most comfortable of packs either. I expected more from a company that normally produces such great gear.

Really nice hat but...

Backcountry.com Cardigan Beanie

Backcountry.com Cardigan Beanie

Rating for this product: 5 August 11, 2008

I agree with everything everyone has writen about this hat but the sizing does not seem to be very consistant. My sister like this hat and got one for herself and it seemed like a completely different size of hat even though they are one size fits all. Still awsome.
