Boots you don't want to take off

Montrail Torre GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's DO NOT USE

Montrail Torre GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 October 3, 2006

Just came back from a 20 mile trek in the Porcupine Mountains. I've never owned a pair of boots that felt so good on that I did not rush to remove them at the end of the hike. They felt so good I wore them around camp instead of my "camp shoes". Completely waterproof and amazingly breathable. No hot spots or anything. I highly recommend these now that they have proven themselves.

Tried on many, many different styles and brands before settling on these. Can't beat the looks, not that it matters much in the outback, but hey, it's better than looking like a circus sideshow. The boots broke in completely in about 5 miles. Waterproof is an understatement, they are fantastic. Heels are a bit loose, but I give Montrail a big thumbs up for their website (alternate lacings). After re-tying using their methods, no problems at all. I'd recommend this to anyone who has a limited budget but still wants quality.

But definitely buy if you are looking for fast, light, and cool! I mean you get done boiling water in these suckers and within a minute of emptying them, they are stuffable. Awesome. Best part is water tastes like water, not aluminum.

bag is like a bed, but 15 degrees?

Big Agnes Encampment Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Polarguard Delta

Big Agnes Encampment Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Polarguard Delta

Definitely the bag for those of us who squirm like a snake in the sack or sleep in all sorts of distorted positions. My only reason for not a perfect 5 is I disagree with the temp rating for this, even with the insulated mattress I got, still have to wear substantial underwear to keep from chillin. I'd say its a 25 degree'r, and I have the metabolism of a Dall ram, cold usually doesn't phase me.
