Probably too late to help Juno or Tim, but this would meet the carry on restrictions. The low profile hip belt & shoulder straps is an advantage too.

The sierra Designs Convert series are single wall designs, but the vestibule can be added or subtracted as desired while still maintaining a dry, cozy interior. I'm sure many of the other single-wall designs such as from BD, MH, & THF have this same feature

Both my wife & I have these (although a couple years old) & they work with the Axl's. Even with her smaller foot, the regular size Axl's are fine. As a side note, I am very happy with the Axl's, even if they are somewhat heavier than BD's O1's.
