Arc'teryx Spotter Pant - Men's

Arc'teryx Spotter Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 September 28, 2011

I totally agree with Sean's review stating "what's the big deal" with these pants. I also find them mediocre. After reading all the rave reviews, I bought these expecting more. This is simply a canvas cotton pair of pants with articulated knees. I wear them hiking, while doing yard work, or on occasion, when I'm out running errands; I will not, however, wear them to the bar or to any restaurant that comes close to being nice/posh. While these are comfortable in general, I don't see where they outshine other pants. When it comes time to get more pants, I will surely look elsewhere as I don't feel these are worth the money.

Great For Road Cycling

Oakley Half Jacket XLJ Dual Replacement Lenses

Oakley Half Jacket XLJ Dual Replacement Lenses

Rating for this product: 5 December 23, 2008

I originally bought my Half Jackets with Transitions lenses for the versatility that photochromic (variable tint) lenses provide. I couldn't be happier with the Half Jackets; however, when I took up road cycling as a hobby, I quickly realized that the regular shaped lenses did not provide enough coverage when I'm riding against the wind. I bought a set of XLJ lenses to address that issue and now, I think I have the best of both worlds -- regular shaped Transitions lenses for casual wear and XLJ lenses for cycling. If I had known, I would've opted for XLJ Transitions lenses (assuming that they exist)!

I Practically Live In This Thing

The North Face Windwall 1 Fleece Vest - Men's

The North Face Windwall 1 Fleece Vest - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 23, 2008

I didn't expect such a wonderfully versatile product when I bought this vest. It's quite windproof, much more so than the fleece found on TNF's more popular Denali jacket/vest. This vest is fairly light in material so you can layer it on top of a tee and underneath a technical shell. Styling is great but be sure you order the right size (I wear a 42R suit jacket and am happy with a Medium for this vest). I've washed my vest about a dozen times since I've had it and the fleece is starting to pile. Despite this, it still looks presentable.

Windproof but NOT warm!

The North Face Sentinel WindStopper Jacket - Men's

The North Face Sentinel WindStopper Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 18, 2007

I really like this jacket. I own a few The North Face jackets and this is a great addition. I've had this jacket for 2yrs...my version does not have the waist cinch or the hook and loop closure cuff adjuster but I actually prefer that. As many have already stated, this jacket is very windproof. I wash this jacket with Nikwax so that I could wear this out in a light rainfall with no hesitation. The style and cut of this jacket is superb...it offers a sleek minimalist look. The only minor downside to this jacket is that it is not warm, but I do not think this is a negative because it makes this jacket more versatile. I did not give it a full 5-star rating because the microfleece interior sticks/clings to whatever shirt I'm wearing underneath, be it cotton, wool, or a technical base. Also, the price is a bit high...I'm glad I got this at the The North Face outlet for less than $100.

Great Shirt

Mountain Hardwear Canyon Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Mens

Mountain Hardwear Canyon Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Mens

Rating for this product: 5 December 17, 2007

I bought two of these, one in short sleeve and one in long sleeve, for a trip to SE Asia last summer (July). It was hot & humid there and both shirts were really comfortable to wear! I especially like the long sleeve version because it was more versatile, allowing me the freedom of long sleeve for a somewhat formal ceremony and the short sleeve for general travel wear. At the time of purchasing these shirts, I tried on TNF travel shirts at a similar price point and was unimpressed with those TNF shirts. The MH fit was better (more athletic cut) whereas TNF shirts seemed "sloppy." All in all, I am extremely happy with these MH shirts and am returning to buy two more!

A Trusty Partner On Rides

Craft Gore WS Long-Sleeve Crew Top - Men's

Craft Gore WS Long-Sleeve Crew Top - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2007

I'm not sure why there are bad reviews for this product. I have two of these and have been using them for two biking seasons. This is a great alternative to having to wear a full jacket while road biking. Instead, I wear this underneath a jersey and am comfortable for rides down to the upper 50F. The windproof layer is in the chest area, so it helps keep my core cool. The rest of the shirt is breathable so sweat isn't a concern on long rides. After using this, I rarely wear my thicker jackets for warmth. With this, a bike jersey, and a waterproof jacket (in case it rains on 60+ mile rides), I'm good to go!!!
