Pretty sweet

Marmot Ama Dablam Down Jacket - Men's

Marmot Ama Dablam Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2009

Solid lightweight hooded puffy. Seems well made, nice down fill, compresses well. Fit seems slightly large. I am 5'9 145 and small is perfect. Fits over my softshell for backcountry/belay usage and under my hard shell for cold-ass conditions. Good details, pockets, hood design. Cheaper than the patagonia down hoodie, and a little warmer/useful as a belay jacket. Not as light though.

Got the blue to add a little cheer to a cold day. Its a little shinier than I would have hoped for, maybe should have gone gargoyle.

Marmot Ama Dablam Down Jacket - Men's

October 20, 2009

No baffles, sewn through construction. Its nice, but definitely a lightweight puffy. Heavier than the patagucci down sweater though.

MSR Reactor Stove

July 10, 2009

Short backpacking trips, ease of use, and girlfriend?

buy a remote canister stove, msr wind pro, snow peak bf, brunton vesta, optimus stella, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I like my liquid fuel stove and my ultralight canister top stove, but there is a time and place for everything, and if I owned one stove it would be a remote canister with a fuel preheat coil. Funny that its the one kind I dont have.

oh, I'd buy the snow peak bf, large burner if it was my money

Sweet belt, runs a bit small

Mission Playground Bloom Belt

Mission Playground Bloom Belt

Rating for this product: 4 May 22, 2009

I like it, the ladies want to steal it, but I'm a 31 waist and the 32 belt puts me on the very last hole. Maybe I will let it go to a friendly girl sometime.

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 14, 2009

Great shirt, super light. Only caveats are they run fairly fitted, and the light color may be a little too see-thru due to the ultralight material. Other than that, thumbs up.

Sweet summer bag

Marmot Arroyo Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down

Marmot Arroyo Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 April 27, 2009

Great bag for the price. The arroyo moved to a baffled construction rather than the sewn through of last year, making it very similar to the hydrogen at a better price point. It is well designed, uses ultralight fabric and 800 fill power, quality construction. Temp rating is spot on, compacts to a nice small size. What more do you really want? Um, I guess the color is kind of bland, but whatever.

The North Face Backpacking Bivy 3-Season

April 2, 2009

Anyone had the chance to set this up next to a black diamond lightsabre and make a call on the correct choice? Without seeing them the default goes to BD, but would love a first hand view...

In a general sense digital beacons are easier to use in an emergency situation, and are superior in multiple burial scenarios.Get a digital beacon.

good puffy to get me through the cold days of winter

Powderhorn Night Hawk Down Jacket - Men's

Powderhorn Night Hawk Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 3, 2008

Nice jacket. Cut seems a little big on me, color for atlantic/haze/radish WAY way off, look at the powderhorn site for more realistic colors. Hood is removable and nice & puffy. Definitely a town jacket, though it apparently has dwr I can't imagine the seams holding up through much weather. Nice cuffs & alpaca lined pockets. Gets me through the snow to my car, and from my car to the bar. Made in China.

mediocre construction

Swix Star Advanced Pant - Men's

Swix Star Advanced Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 October 17, 2008

Not too happy with the pants. Nice weight, and not super racerguy tight, but stitches going, and zipper broke on day 2. Also, be warned, they dont zip down over your boot, too narrow at the ankle.
