Burton Board Case

Burton Board Case

Rating for this product: 5 April 20, 2009

I got the 181cm Burton Board case. This bag has worked out perfectly for what I use it for. I like to travel with both a snowboard (bindings removed but in bag) and a pair of alpine skis. This bag allows me to bring both and only check one bag. Also, I am able to pack a sufficient amount of clothing and other gear (helmet, sb boots, poles, etc.) to pad my equipment and keep everything in place. No matter how I pack it all of my gear fits securely, and the bag typically weighs in around 45-48 lbs. I previously used my friends wheelie version and always ended up being overweight due to the wheel apparatus. The one complaint I have is that a small plastic piece on the shoulder strap broke on my first trip and I now have to use a different strap. No big deal though. Bottom line: get this bag and pack everything you need.

Anyone with experience with this bag think one would be able to fit a pair of ski boots in this bag with spare room for other pieces of gear? Thanks.

Great Big Mountain ski

Volkl Gotama Alpine Ski

Volkl Gotama Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2009

First off, I am 5'10'', 185 lbs. and ski on the 183cm Gotamas. I have them paired with the Marker Jesters (amazing lateral stability). These skis truly do rock all over the mountain. While I am sure you can find a better ski if you are only looking to carve the groomed runs or bounce through the moguls; however, I would not hesitate at recommending the Gotamas to anyone looking for a great all-around ski if you are looking to go anywhere on the mountain. They are very nimble, hold an excellent edge, and have minimal chatter at high speeds. Additionally, these boards chew-up powder and crud. I skied them for 8 straight days at the mountains around Lake Tahoe. We got about 4 feet of fresh snow and the Gotamas did not disappoint. They got excellent float and provided a great solid platform for landing any jumps. I truly pushed these skis as hard as I could, and felt that they still had plenty of performance left in them. Lastly, a few days after the big dump, I spent a good amount of time in the trees. These skis were nimble, busted through any crud, and kept me smiling the whole day. The only negative I have on these skis, to this point, is the topsheet. As previously mentioned by other reviewers, after a few days of normal skiing there were several large nicks and places where the laminate was coming off. Overall, great big mountain ski for those who ski aggressively all over the mountain.

Burton Board Case

February 19, 2009

Does anyone know if I would be able to safely fit both a board and a pair of alpine skis in this bag? If not, is there a bag out there that I would be able to do this with? My skis are 177cm. Thanks.

Marker Duke/Jester 110mm Brake DO NOT USE

February 6, 2009

Does anyone know how many mm. you can bend the brake stalks? I have a pair of Jesters with 90mm brakes and want to mount them on a pair of Volkl Gotamas (105 mm waist). Do you think rebending 8 mm on each stalk is pushing it too far? Thanks.

Marker Jester Ski Binding

January 24, 2009

I just purchased a pair of Volkl Gotamas (176cm: 133 / 105 / 124mm). I would have liked to have gotten the 183cm but found a ridiculously good deal on the 176. I am 5'9'' and weight about 180 after a big breakfast. I was looking for a good versatile binding. Weight is not of too big of a concern; however, I would like something that has great lateral stability, little pre-release from the toe-piece, and is durable...is that too specific (not)? Right now, the Marker Jester would seem to be my first choice due to the wide toe-piece. I am a fairly aggressive skier and will spend the majority of the time in off-piste terrain or in the trees looking for those last few bits of fluffy stuff. I spend little time in the park and do not huck myself off too many big jumps but will occasionally. So, what are some other bindings I should consider? Are there any concerns I should have with the Jester? Lastly, would you recommend the 90mm (rebend) or the 110mm? Thanks for your help.
