Snow Peak GigaPower Stove, Titanium Manual Ignition

Snow Peak GigaPower Stove, Titanium Manual Ignition

Rating for this product: 4 October 28, 2009

The stove is great. Lightweight, efficient, easy to maintain, and compact. I got the auto ignite version and would recommend it to everyone. I believe that you can purchase the piezo seperate and install it yourself later. I have been using this stove almost three years now and have had not one problem with anything failing in the field. I use it in all seasons. The only reason i gave it 4 stars is because you must have the wind screen. Especially in winter! it increases the efficiency ten fold. I think it would be cool if they shipped with the screen but, eh.

AWESOME BAG!

Western Mountaineering VersaLite Super Sleeping Bag: 10 Degree Down

Western Mountaineering VersaLite Super Sleeping Bag: 10 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 October 25, 2009

I cant say enough good stuff about this bag. I used a Mountain Hardwear Phantom 15 for three years and it treated me pretty well. But, this thing is leaps and bounds nicer! Super light for temp rating and, in my opinion is probably a conservative rating anyway. Draft collar design is the best i have seen. It is not a nuisance (i.e. choking you) and is o so warm! Same goes for the hood. I am 5'11" and got the regular it fits like a glove. Hood is super warm! The U.L. shell fabric has me wondering what it will look like in 5-6 years but, we shall see.

mountain hardwear trango 2

Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Rating for this product: 4 October 16, 2006

This is an awesome tent overall. My only 2 complaints are the distance from the fly to the ground is a little to much (I realize this is for ventilation but, the large top vent does the job just fine.) Also, the hooks instead of continuous sleeves are a little sketchy in high winds but, none the less work fine. Again, overall great. Sets up super fast. Huge front vestibule. Roomy as hell for two people inside. Usable rear vestibule. Tones of overhead storage (mesh.) Coolest fly color on the market!!!

Mountain 25 rules!!!!!

The North Face Mountain 25 Tent - 2-Person 4-Season

The North Face Mountain 25 Tent - 2-Person 4-Season

Rating for this product: 5 October 16, 2006

This is a solid tent. It is super warm and comfortable down into the single digits. Reflective guy lines are sweet!! Pretty light in comparison to others in its class. I recently sent this baby in for some warranty work. A hole formed around the nylon tube that attaches the mesh to the body of the tent. This was do to sustained winds of about 25-35 mph. And when I say sustained I mean it. The wind was coming straight down!!! ALL NIGHT!! anyway, I sent her in (Kudos to The North Face for speed!!!) and had her back and good as new in 11 days!!! I would recommend this tent over any 4 season I have seen, used, or heard about.

Therm-a-Rest Trail Comfort Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 October 16, 2006

Great all-around 4-season pad. My wife and I use these from the car camping trips to the backcountry. I have comfortably slept down to 8 degrees (with a 15 degree sleeping bag.) in winter atop this bad boy. Go buy one!

Mountain Hardwear sub zero

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 16, 2006

I bought this jacket last year at end of season, and wish I had had it all my life!! It’s light, and compresses to nothing. The armored shoulders are nice, and the fit is one of the best I have ever worn. Super warm for 650 fill, and no feathers flying out every time you put it on. Super recommendation!!!

UPDATE: Western Mountaineering is faaaaaar superior to any other down products on the market. Be it their jackets or sleeping bags. I have purchased the hooded meltdown and, oh my god is it badass!!!

mountain hardwear phantom15d

Mountain Hardwear Phantom Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Mountain Hardwear Phantom Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 4 March 22, 2006

Overall this bag is awesome. I was comfortably warm down to 18 degrees (with sleeping pad). There is plenty of room in the leg and foot area. It compresses down to nearly nothing, the draft collar is awesome. The inside pocket is nice too. My only complaint is the room in the shoulder/chest area. It was slightly restrictive, but to be somewhat expected from a cold weather mummy bag. Again, not a big deal just something to keep in mind.
