The North Face Redpoint Insulated Jacket - Men's

The North Face Redpoint Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 4, 2011

Moving to the Pacific Northwest last year, I learned there is a big difference between my SoCal "jackets" & what is required here. But I didn't want to look like the Michelan Man. I love that the Redpoint is not too "puffy" & not too shiny like some in this class. It is lightweight but keeps me warm in this climate. We don't get Minnesota cold, but this kept me plenty warm down to 7degF with just a TK100 or long sleeve run shirt underneath. Very wind resistant too. I got the teal colour & get many compliments on the jacket. I will get the vest too when it goes on sale.

This jacket is great for the price point!

Great light trail shoe

The North Face Double-Track GTX XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

The North Face Double-Track GTX XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 4, 2011

My first experience with North Face footwear & I'm a convert! These are great shoes for someone with wide feet like me. The traction, stability & cushioning is excellent. I wouldn't go bounding down really technical terrain in these but for moderate trail running (& getting to the trail & back) these are one of the best shoes I've run in. I now have 3 pair (2 regular & 1 GTX)

They do have a wide forefoot though & a lot of stability in the shoe, so if you are an efficient/neutral runner or have a narrower foot, maybe look to Salomon or La Sportiva.

Returned

KEEN Voyageur Hiking Shoe - Men's

KEEN Voyageur Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 June 20, 2011

The bend in the forefoot was very stiff & dug in to my foot. Returned. Just not the right Keen for me. Went with the Keen Red Rock instead: very happy

KEEN Voyageur Hiking Shoe - Men's

Keens are great for wide feet. If you have narrow, look at La Sportiva or Salomon....maybe even Vasque

KEEN Voyageur Hiking Shoe - Men's

May 20, 2011

I have a wide foot & Keens fit me well. My experience with both La Sportiva & Salomon are that they are too narrow for my feet in standard size. Even going up a half size they are both snug in the forefoot for me. If Salomon/LaSportiva fit you well, Keens may not be for you. Perhaps look at at Vasque as they tend to run more standard width

great shorts

The North Face Mission Ripstop Short - Men's

The North Face Mission Ripstop Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 6, 2009

These are great shorts! Comfortable, functional for a day hike or a bbq. Like the verticle zip pockets.

Beware of the sizing though. I liked my grey shorts so well I bought another pair in the lighter colour andd they were significantly smaller. If you're on the edge of a particular size I'd recommend going up a size.

good jacket

The North Face Pamir WindStopper Jacket - Men's

The North Face Pamir WindStopper Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 5, 2008

This is a great, non-bulky intermediate weight jacket. I don't live in parka country, but sometimes need more than a light weight or cheaper fleece. This jacket is perfect weight for down into the 30s as well as under windy conditions...though I haven't tried it yet for both at the same time. :-) I've always had good luck with North Face products, and this store's customer service rocks as usual. Happy & warm in central CA.

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 20, 2007

Sleeves and shoulders were a normal size large, but the body fit very snugly. To go any larger though would have been too long in the arms. Very soft warm jacket but wrong fit for me.

Terrible shoe!

Salomon XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Salomon XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 March 10, 2006

First let me say that the service from here was great: no issue with the company. Wish I could say the same for the product. The shoe itself is horrible. I say "shoe" because the left shoe fit pretty well (though not as much cushion as I thought there'd be in the heel.) The right one is like a completely different shoe: had to check the labels twice to make sure they really were supposedly the same size and model. The insole at the heel feels like it's slipped to the outside and the arch cushion is so out of place it rubbed blisters on my arch within an hour of just walking in them. I could certainly never trail run in them: they are so uncomfortable I can't even walk in them for general use. I'll never buy Salomon again.
