Patagonia All-Time Trench Jacket - Men's

Patagonia All-Time Trench Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2010

Bought this coat to replace a crappy overcoat and a near-antique shell. I was hoping that this would be able to take some old zip-in compatible items but the zippers don't quite match (just means I need to buy some new kit).

Pros:
Great coverage (almost to my knees, and I'm 6')
Waterproof
Lots of pockets (Napolean, interior, two hand)

Cons:
I'd like the front napolean to be hidden (look more professional)
The logo could be more subdued

Good Cold Weather Kit

Patagonia R4 Fleece Jacket - Men's

Patagonia R4 Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 5, 2010

Picked this up after reading the reviews and seeing one in a store.

The Good: It's thin but really, really, WARM. Lots of room in the shoulders and chest for layers. The fact that the material is thin (at least compared to some of my other fleeces) makes it easier to layer under a hardshell.

The Bad: The main zipper still has issues as noted below. Loosening the drawcord at the waist before zipping up helps as tension on the bottom of the zipper is what seems to cause the problem. Also, the drawcord ends in a loop on the right hip. If you tighten the cord up as much as I do, you end up with a really large loop of cord which seems to get caught up in things. At the moment I tie the end of the loop in a large knot above the piece of fabric that holds the loop to the jacket.

Other than the zipper and cord issue, I love the jacket and don't see replacing it for quite some time!

Is this zip-in compatible with just the Kalispell or will other Patagonia items work as well?

Another great product!

Backcountry.com Rime Pullover Jacket - Men's Customer Appreciation

Backcountry.com Rime Pullover Jacket - Men's Customer Appreciation

Rating for this product: 5 November 26, 2007

This is my second product from Backcountry.com and yet again, it is top shelf! It is a little tight on me due to the athletic cut but that will only aid in keeping warm when jogging in the morning.

I have worn it on duty as an EMT and it was great! It went over a compression base-layer and under my issued (non-windproof) fleece and it worked as predicted, breathable and blocked the wind.

If Backcountry keeps producing these great products, I'm going to be broke soon!

My feelings so far...

Backcountry.com Cairn Fleece Jacket - Men's

Backcountry.com Cairn Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 6, 2007

This was my first purchase through this site and so far I'm very pleased. I purchased this to replace a TNF Thermal Pro Denali. Although I have yet to wear it because it is summer where I am, I will provide some tentative feedback:
I like the Cairn's smooth, sweater-like, external weave much more than the "Monkey-fur" exterior of others.
I like the fit and simplicity of the Cairn (although it could use an external chest pocket).
I love the fact that the external hand pockets are stitched on the bottom and open on the top to create the internal pockets (a major drawback on the Denali in my opinion).
While the jacket may seem like a lighter weight fleece, I am not worried it will perform on those single to low double digit degree days that I purchased it for. I own a sweater made of the same type Thermal Pro (same weight as well) that has performed better than any other fleece I have owned! (when worn under a shell)
So I have no worries that when the temps drop the Cairn will perform! Keep up the good work!
