CamelBak Hydration Pack Cleaning Kit

CamelBak Hydration Pack Cleaning Kit

Rating for this product: 3 March 20, 2008

I bought this to clean the inside of the tube because I had some gatorade and it got sticky. The big brush worked fine. The "worm" brush is a pain to get through the tube if the inside is sticky like in my situation. The cleaning tablet worked alright but failed to clean up the Gatorade.

Bottom line: Don't put sweetened beverages in the CamelBak.

Versatile

Outdoor Research Specter Pullover Fleece - Men's

Outdoor Research Specter Pullover Fleece - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 20, 2008

The garment is stylish and comfy. The cut is larger than normal so you can move easily in this one. It's designed to be used as a layer so there's not much insulation. On 10 degree with wind chill day, I had to use it as the second base layer under a vest, another fleece and a softshell. I don't know if it's because of the nylon exterior or something else, but it smells a little after a couple of days. Other than that, a fine product if put to the right use.

Good looking and light

66 North Iceland Kaldi Zip Sweater - Men's

66 North Iceland Kaldi Zip Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 26, 2007

This is a very nice looking sweater from the Icelandic company. It is made of fairly good quality wool so the itch was tolerable. I usually don't wear anything made of wool because I have sensitive skin, but this sweater seems alright on top of just a short sleeve shirt. Part of it might be because they put fleece liner on the inside of the collar.
The weight of it is minimum. It is lighter than most fleece jackets, but of course, it doesn't have any pockets. I speculate the suitable wearing temperature range of it is about 40~60F in no wind or in town situations. I would say this is the kind of piece you wear for the look, not the functionality. But it can be worn as a mid layer under a shell, which obviously defeat the propose of such a stylish sweater. The cut is good around the shoulder but a little bit wide at the bottom. The zipper can and should be of higher quality. And like other people suggested, the pull of the zipper is on the left hand side.

Terrific socks

SmartWool Running Light Mini Crew Socks

SmartWool Running Light Mini Crew Socks

Rating for this product: 5 April 6, 2007

These socks are good. I was skeptical about wool before, but the wool here is truly smart. They dry quickly and seem to be pretty durable. The sole is a bit fluffy after a few washes. One can speculate that it will be a bit hot in summer.
I can't comment on long-term durability yet. I put them in dryer and they didn't shrink, that's convenient for caring it.
I wear through socks quickly because I sometimes play tennis with them. If hiking/running socks like these can hold up to the use of tennis, they can hold up to pretty much anything.
So far, it performed well.

Quality, stylish pants

Arc'teryx Alibi Cropper Pant - Men's

Arc'teryx Alibi Cropper Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 March 19, 2007

The Alibi Cropper pants are slim-fit. They are not the baggy ones you would expect that's suitable for climbing. I think they are well-made to Arc'teryx standard. The zippers are nice and neat. But these are not as comfortable comparing to Gamut long shorts that I have. I think they are too tight to be comfy, and you can't really put anything in the rear pockets.
If you need something that fits that will also give you extra protection in the knee region then you should consider these. I like baggier pants so next time I might try something else.

Exceptionally good jacket

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 22, 2007

Just like most people already said, the jacket is very well made. Highly wind and water resistant. I wore it to ski on a rainy day and it kept me try as a duck. My Columbia hardshell is not as waterproof as this softshell is. It really fit larger than normal though. I usually wear a L, but a L was a bit too spacious for me. Overall, a very nice active jacket. Stretchy and warm. I wear it almost everyday in winter.
