Lightweight Flask with a Flaw
Snow Peak Titanium Round Flask
October 24, 2008
This is a great Flask. Nice capacity, great shape, extremely lightweight and taste neutral. This flaws sole flaw is its cap. For a $100+ that cap should be securely attached to the main body.

Best canister I've ever used
Bear Vault BV350 Solo Bear Resistant Food Canister
August 28, 2006
I've done a lot of backpacking in bear country and tried all the big names in bear canisters. Bear Vault simply makes the best containers I've ever used. Tool free opening, wide mouth, and clear plastic make it easy to find and grab food with a minimum of searching. The extra wide lid also makes a comfy seat for your derriere. All these features combined in a canister with one of the lowest weights you can find make this product one of my absolute favorites.

Excellent design, short length
Marmot Eos 1-Person 3-Season Tent
August 28, 2006
This tent sets up like a charm. I had it set up in 3 minutes first time out of the bag. Excellent design with superior ventilation and easy setup-takedown. However as other review have stated, the tent isn't very long. A regular sized sleeping bag rests against both the head and foot of this tent. Anyone using down bags in wet conditions might want to look at a longer tent.

durable quality sack
Granite Gear Dry Sacks
August 28, 2006
This sack uses high quality materials to make a reliable lightweight dry sack. I used this sack to store my clothes during a trip to the Hoh rain forest. My clothes stayed bone dry. My one gripe is with the 2 compression straps. Although 2 straps cuts down on weight, it means you have to take a little extra care when compressing. Overall an excellent product.

Great shirt, low durability
Marmot Evolution Half Zip Windshirt - Men's
August 28, 2006
This shirt worked like a charm during a Grand Canyon rim-to-rim-to-rim excursion. The shirt closes easily and provides a little extra warmth in low temp conditions. The stretch panels allow an excellent range of motion. Now for the bad part. I noticed some fraying on the seams connecting the 2 different fabric types. After 2 washings the seams had multiple small holes thought their length. If I spend this much on a shirt, I'd like that shirt to last more than a couple washes.

Great Niche Shoe
Salomon Pro Amphibian Shoe - Men's
January 19, 2006
Let me start by reviewing what this shoe can't do. This shoe is NOT designed for running, carrying heavy loads, or other high impact activities. The massive shock and torque placed on the minimalist cushioning and heel strap respectively will overwhelm this shoe. That being said, this amphibious shoe succeeds admirably in its purpose. I spend a lot of time exploring tide pools here in CA. This shoe protects my feet from jagged rocks and ocean surge. It provides excellent footing on slippery seaweed. The waterproof sole sheds water quickly while the heel strap provides a glove like fit. It is light enough to pack in as a camp shoe and comfortable enough for day hikes with a hydration pack.
