Arc'teryx Covert Cardigan - Men's

Arc'teryx Covert Cardigan - Men's

I love Arc'teryx but the covert I owned surprised me when I felt like I was in a wind tunnel in typical Seattle weather. I actually rated this sweater down a bit - because I hold Arc'teryx to a higher standard. All those who reviewed this jacket and claim it to be warm were either wearing warm base layers under it, shells over it, or were in calm weather. Michad's review is accurate when he says "wind will cut straight through this sweater" I don't know why he felt it still deserved 5 stars - arc'teryx shouldn't have allowed such a major oversight to pass through their quality assurance dept. I still wear my covert... while drinking my fav brew, poker night, movie theater, etc... Generally, I'd recommend Arc'teryx but in this case I say take a pass - unless you just want to LOOK hardcore.

Arc'teryx Covert Hoody Jacket - Men's

I mean NO WIND PROTECTION PERIOD!!! I felt like I wasn't even wearing a shirt! Bonobaby, is getting paid to write his reviews - or his winter sports are done in phoenix. Canadian Ski Bum and Ehh know what they are talking about, everyone else here is just rating the Arc'teryx logo and only wears their stuff to LOOK hardcore. Normally, I'm the first to put Arc'teryx on a high pedestal but this time they screwed it up. Sure it's a nice looking piece for the coffee house but I'd rather spend the $$$ on another fat cup of bean and a sweet icebreaker, or even two at that price. I rated it one star because I expect better from Arc'teryx. Guys did you consider selling this design to Kelty?

Must be the logo, 'cause that's all that's going for it. Absolutely no wind protection - just go without a shirt and save the Benjis. I'd recommend this for hardcore spring-fall evenings to the movie theater, poker night, oh and it's a choice piece to loan your girlfriend when she's cold on your couch (cause it is admittedly very soft). Otherwise this fleece has no endearing qualities of any kind at 10,000 feet, or for that matter, sea level with a 1 KPH wind. I expect much better, especially from Arc'teryx. Bottom line...If you are into looking good in the ski haus, you would do fine to pick this up - just don't wear it up the lift with you without a killer layering system to make up for this massive flaw. Other pieces would serve you much better, have I mentioned Icebreaker yet?

Arc'teryx Gamma AR Pant - Men's

Arc'teryx Gamma AR Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 21, 2008

I'm biased to Arc'teryx anyway, but these really rock. Brought me to the top of Rainier and back in fine style. Breatheability and temp regulation is perfect, plenty warm for 15 degree 25MPH conditions. Best all around alpine pant there is. No need to go MX, - likely too warm and heavy unless you're among the most extreme or get cold very easily. Kudos to Teleman for layering with the icebreaker bottoms - I'd spoon with somma that's if my wife would let me.
