Great little headphones

Skullcandy Recruit Headphones

Skullcandy Recruit Headphones

Rating for this product: 5 February 17, 2009

I've had these for almost a year and a half now and I love them. The sounds is great -- it's loud enough to drown out the engine noise while sitting in the back of an airliner, and it's crystal clear. I really like the weight of these headphones too -- they reall are light and comfortable. Most importantly, these headphones are durable -- not one loose wire yet...

Great Shades

Smith Factor Max Interchangeable Sunglasses - Polarized

Smith Factor Max Interchangeable Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 5 February 11, 2009

Flat out, these are the best shades I've owned. This is my second pair after having lost 1 while out skiing. The 4 different lenses come in very handy in varying light conditions. I've got the Steel frames, which come with the gry/RC30/clr mir/ylw lenses. Most of the time I'm looking through the polarized grey, but once the light gets flat and overcast, I just pop in the RC30 lenses to cut the glare and reduce eye strain. On dark and stormy days, the yellow are a life-saver -- not only do they brighten a dark day, but they really help improve visibility and definition. The frames are nice and light, which is great because they don't pinch down on your sinuses. All in all, I highly recommend these sunglasses...

It gets the job done...

DAKINE Goggle Case

DAKINE Goggle Case

Rating for this product: 3 February 11, 2009

This goggle case gets the job done by providing a safe and secure container for your goggles. The soft fabric lining keeps your goggles safe and scratch-free. If your goggles are wet, make sure you leave them out overnight - the case really isn't all that breathable and you'll have fogging issues if you don't. Also, the case isn't exactly a hard case, so it's far from crush-proof. Still, this case works better than those cheap goggle bags that typically come with your goggles.

Awesome in the yurt

The North Face Nuptse Winter Bootie - Men's

The North Face Nuptse Winter Bootie - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 17, 2008

I just tested these booties on a yurt trip in the Tetons and I absolutely loved them. The extra weight was quite negligible and they packed easily along side my sleeping bag inside my pack's sleeping bag compartment. The Nuptse Boots are very warm - even when standing in the snow. The lugged sole provides great traction and support -- all of my friends were jealous since their nearly new booties all have holes already. In regards to sizing, the Men's 11 fit my Men's 11.5 EEE foot perfectly -- so yes, they do run a little large. Still, I highly suggest these booties over all others. They are the best thing to put your feet into after a long day of ski touring.

Decent Pack

The North Face Catalyst 60 Backpack - 3350-3950cu in

The North Face Catalyst 60 Backpack - 3350-3950cu in

Rating for this product: 3 March 17, 2008

I recently used this pack while ski touring in the Tetons and it worked well. There was plenty of space for everything I needed (sleeping bag, shovel, probe, camera, puffy jacket, food, cooking supplies, camera, extra lens, skins, helmet, goggles and a few other odds and ends). I really liked the side and top access features. I must admit though, this wasn't the most comfortable pack I've worn and it took quite a bit of adjusting to find an ok fit. If you're going to spend the money, you might as well buy a pack that has aluminum stays and more personalized adjustments. Aside from that though, this pack served me quite well.

Nice Sandals!

KEEN Venice H2 Sandal - Men's

KEEN Venice H2 Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 8, 2007

These are the best sandals I've ever owned. They provide the best ankle support I've ever experienced in a sandal. They make excellent boating sandals as they will not fall off if you wind up going for a swim (I know from experience) and the extra ankle support is great for when you need to get out of the boat to hike or scout. I highly recommend these.

This is a fast boat.

Perception Eclipse Series Kayak w/ Rudder

Perception Eclipse Series Kayak w/ Rudder

Rating for this product: 4 September 20, 2007

This boat is really fast in the water. It tracks quite nicely, although as someone else has mentioned, it does weathercock in the wind. The rudder really helps to compensate and can help to keep the boat straight. This certainly isn't the most stable kayak I've ever been in, however, it is very fast and it handles chop and waves quite well. If you have a little kayaking experience under your belt, this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

This is great!

The Travel Hammock Double Hammock

The Travel Hammock Double Hammock

Rating for this product: 5 September 13, 2007

This hammock is now part of my standard camping kit. I love how this hammock's lightweight, packable design. It packs down to about the size of a large fuel cannister and adds hardly any weight to my pack. Once you've found 2 appropriately spaced trees, it's a snap to setup. The material feels very durable and I have a feeling that this hammock will continue to be a mainstay for years to come. I highly recommend this item.

I love these pants!

The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant - Men's

The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 6, 2007

When I first bought these pants, I was a bit skeptical. My fears were relieved as soon as I pull them out of the packaging. These pants provide a great fit where they're loose, but not too loose. These pants move great. Also, the fabric is super comfortable and I love the texture. The construction of these pants feels solid and I will soon be buying a 2nd pair of these to add to my gear closet.

A solid craft

Tributary Tomcat Tandem Inflatable Kayak

Tributary Tomcat Tandem Inflatable Kayak

Rating for this product: 5 August 31, 2007

I ran this boat solo this past weekend on the Snake River's Alpine section at about 5500 cfs. It was a snap to remove the 2nd seat and center-mount the remaining one to a middle location in the kayak. Despite being a kayak built for 2, this boat still performed beautifully in the big wave trains and swirly waters. I was very impressed with how maneuverable it was. I'd definitely recommend this boat to any whitewater paddler(s) looking for some easy fun on the river.

I totally dig these shades. The optical clarity is awesome! Not only do they look good, they feel good too. The lenses snap into the frames easily and are held securely. The hard case provides great protection and stores all of your replacement lenses.

Adventure Medical Weekender First Aid Kit

Rating for this product: 5 July 13, 2007

This is a great kit to have on-hand for your adventures. Though I've only used it for blister care, I'm happy with it. I feel confident enough that this kit will take care of your wounds well enough until professional help arrives.

Great Pow Ski

Atomic Snoop Daddy Alpine Ski

Atomic Snoop Daddy Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 July 6, 2007

These skis rock the pow like you wouldn't believe. I bought these skis for touring and pow days at Alta. Even on those light, dust on crust days, these provide excellent float, giving you that sweet weightless flying-like experience. Mine are mounted to the Naxo 21 AT Bindings. While the combo puts a lot of weight underneath your feet on the skin track, the downhill performance can't be matched. The only drawback to this setup is that on icy, east-coast conditions, I've gotten quite a bit of chatter. Still, I wouldn't trade these skis in for anything.
