Best boots ever!

Garmont G-Ride G-Fit Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Garmont G-Ride G-Fit Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 19, 2005

Killer liner is all the difference. I love these boots! Get ’em cooked by a pro, then crank them down and stand in ’em for 15-20 minutes. Done! You are ready for the backcountry or in-bounds. Stiff enough to flex my Havoc skis. I use them with a pair of the Silvretta Pure bindings. When touring the heel lever makes walking very easy, then I just unbuckle the top two buckles and away we go for more killer powder! I have never been cold in these boots, they are great. I wear a size 10 shoe, so I have a mondo size 27 boot. They pack out a little, so for max performance and yet still comfy feel, it is better to go a little smaller than normal (1/2 size).

Pure Havoc!

Black Diamond Havoc Telemark Ski

Black Diamond Havoc Telemark Ski

Rating for this product: 5 December 19, 2005

I put a pair of Silveretta Pure bindings on a pair of 183cm Havocs, and they work great. I am 5ft 11in and 200lb, expert skier. I happened to get a chest deep powder day at The Canyons and was thoroughly impressed with their feel in the powder. Then I hit some wind crust, and they were solid and yet still flexing for me. After I got out of the backcountry, I hit some steep runs that had some ice and they held like my old Elans from ten years ago! I am a one quiver guy and this ski is perfect for me. I cannot wait to get out on them again. Just a fabulous AT ski.

Pure gold - great AT binding!

Silvretta Pure Binding

Silvretta Pure Binding

Rating for this product: 5 December 19, 2005

I have been skiing in the backcountry for over 30 years, and this seems to be the best advancement in AT bindings to date. I have been skiing Fritschi's for several years until now. I am 5ft 11in and 200lb, expert skier. I have these mounted on a pair of BD Havoc skis with Garmont G-Ride boots. I could not be happier, the whole package is awesome. The bindings are easy to adjust with a ski pole. The two stage heel riser is easy to use and works (doesn't slip out of place). The pivot point is perfect for climbing steep hills. I have the DIN set at 8 at both points. After hitting a hidden wind blown chunk under the powder, my tip stuck in and I head planted. My right ski that took a dive released like it should have. I was concerned about no toe release but the people at Silvretta got it right. The perfect combination of superb uphill perfomance, light weight, and maximum safety on the descent. I went with a size medium and use a boot that is 27 mondo sizing (size 10 USA shoe). Bomber gear.
