  • Stomping Grounds:

Pineview Reservoir, Brighton, Snowbird, Sand Volleyball Pits, Your moms house
  • Bio:

I was real lucky many many moons ago how I was introduced to snowboarding. I had an Uncle that worked for Avalanche Snowboards and use to send my siblings and I free boards to check out a new sport.

I was only 11 or 12 at the time and nobody I asked had even seen one of these planks of joyous wonderment. I remember all the weird looks I got from the masses of kids and their parents staring at me riding this odd looking thing down a sledding hill in my moon boots, neon snow pants and whatever old, worn out, tore up jacket I threw on at the time. It was like I was a being from another planet and I sucked up and enjoyed every second of it. It was years before the resorts even considered allowing snowboards on their terrain. When they finally did Brighton was one of the first and I have loved them every season since for it.

This is yet another purchase I made for my niece who is recently getting into serious camping mode. I threw this thing on and played around with the sizing but I could tell this is definitely built for a woman's frame. She loves it and it fits her great. She is roughly 5'6" and 120 lbs.

Padding in the hip belt is a big deal to me. I always noticed that in cheaper packs or ones with bad designs once you hit around 5 miles you really start to feel it. This pack has just the right amount of support without it being super huge and bulky. The long zipper down the front is pretty awesome too because Its no fun stuffing all your stuff in a top loader just to pull it all back out cause you need something at the bottom. Straps, zippers and pockets all built well. This is a really good buy.

Under Armour O Series Boxer wins first place

Under Armour O Series Boxer - Men's - 6in

Under Armour O Series Boxer - Men's - 6in

Rating for this product: 5 April 24, 2012

Well it wins first place in my book anyways. These things wick sweat wicked good when hiking, biking or just running around doing whatever. They fit so good I never even notice they are on after a minute unlike all those crappy cotton scrubs out there. The bands are thick and durable and have yet to wear out on any of these I have had for a while now.

I'm amazed it took me so long to find some superb undies to keep me smiling all day long. I have since replaced all my other brands and low grade material boxers with these and I'm lovin it.

Mountain Hardwear Ultralamina 15 Sleeping Bag makes my niece super happy

I bought this for my Niece for her 18th birthday cause she loves to camp but always gets cold in her old cheap bag. Now her only complaint is she always gets hot HaHa go figure. It is really easy for her to regulate the heat though with the dual zippers so she can pull the bag straight down instead of throwing it to the side like the mono zips.

I asked her If I could use it to just yard camp one night to try it out and I was impressed. The bag is very comfortable and the dual zips helped me out a lot because I also get really warm when I sleep. Material is very durable and seams are all sewn great. Looks like we got a winner here.

Osprey Hydraform Hydration Reservoir number 1

Osprey Packs Hydraform Hydration Reservoir

Osprey Packs Hydraform Hydration Reservoir

Rating for this product: 5 April 24, 2012

I love this bladder. I have used just about every brand out there now and this is the only one that didn't give the water a bad taste for weeks. I heard you didn't have to wash it with anything special just rinse and go. I thought ya right but I tried it anyways. Gave it a quick rinse out with water then filled it up and no bad taste at all.

The Features YO!!
* The bite valve on this thing is also much better than the cambelback ones.
* The hard spine that runs down it really helps also. Nothing I hate more hiking around is when my water would get low in my other bladders and they would sag causing it difficult for the last bit of water to come out. The spine helps ensure you get that very last drop with ease.
* This thing is also super tough and I'm not worried about tearing it while ducking a tree like I did with a competitors brand.
* Nice wide easy to fill mouth and screws tight.

Bottom line.... I have replaced all my other bladders in my pack, my fiances pack and my families packs with these and will never look back. I'm so happy Osprey teamed up with Nalgene to make this happen.

Backcountry.com SynthTrail Crew Sock saves my feet

Backcountry.com SynthTrail Crew Sock - 3-Pack

Backcountry.com SynthTrail Crew Sock - 3-Pack

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2011

I don't know what it is about all my other socks but they get worn out very quick. I usually go through the heels or foot beds and sometimes the toes super fast but these puppies are nice. Tough as nails but light as a feather. They feel like your sliding your foot into a cloud that forms to your foot and gives you tiny kisses on it all day long.

The cushion is just perfect in all the right places and the thin layering in other places helps keep your feet from getting too hot. When they do get hot and sweaty though these things suck it right up like a SHAM WOW and it disappears. I have bought many 3 packs to replace all my other semi par socks.

Stanley Flask for MANLY men or women

Stanley Flask - 8oz

Stanley Flask - 8oz

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2011

The copy dares ask the question "What is it about the Stanley 8oz Flask that makes you feel like a real man?" Well I can tell you I feel like a real man when I pull out the full 8oz of delicious adult beverages that I get to actually drink and enjoy. This thing is super light when empty and fits nicely in a pocket or side of your sock hiding in your pant leg.

When I see people with those little cutesy 1-2oz flasks that you only get a taste instead of a drink, I cant help but laugh at the money wasted on a container that is only good for holding the tears shed after its empty so quick.

Deuce Brand Classic Watch simplicity is heaven

Deuce Brand Classic Watch

Deuce Brand Classic Watch

Rating for this product: 3 January 4, 2011

I often break watches because of my activities. Whether I smack a tree, a rail or the concrete they always break but not this little guy. I wanted something small, simple and light so I didn't notice wearing it but more importantly tough. This thing is all of those and more.
The water resistance is also a nice perk because when I'm snowboarding I get plenty of snow inside my gear from some of the gnarly wrecks. Its nice not having to remove it when soaking the soar muscles in the hot tub afterwords. It has not light but thats just one less thing to worry about breaking.
Only downside, as others have said, it does not keep time the best. It does pretty good but after a few weeks It's off by a few minutes.

Deuce Brand Classic Watch

January 4, 2011

I am a bit lanky and have small wrists for a guy. I bought the 18cm and it fit snug. If you were to pick up a 17cm it would probably fit the little ones pretty well.

I mainly bought this watch as a simple substitute because I break watches a lot from being active. This little thing is tough and would definitely stand up to any punishment they could dish out.

Tough lil guy

Pacsafe ProSafe 700 TSA Combination Padlock

Pacsafe ProSafe 700 TSA Combination Padlock

Rating for this product: 5 August 12, 2008

Pacsafe makes some excellent products and this one definitely did not disappoint. I had bought 2 of these for an unexpected trip since I had lost my last 2. The combo is easy to change and its always nice not having to unlock your bags for security.

After the trip a friend was messing around changing the combo and forgot what it was after he locked it onto something. We had to take it to a another friends shop to cut through it cause it is build super tough. Needless to say I had to buy another but for the price its a cheap lesson learned.
