Black Diamond Dynex Dogbones

Black Diamond Dynex Dogbones

Rating for this product: 5 November 6, 2008

I started climbing with Yates screamers more and decided I like the long draw length. I got several BD dynex 20cm dogbones and paired them with the Camp Nano 23 biners. It is a supper light and compact set of draws on my rack. The rubber band on the rope end holds the biner secure.

Durable and packs flat when empty

MSR Dromedary Bags

MSR Dromedary Bags

Rating for this product: 5 November 6, 2008

I used to buy platypus bladders, but they get fatigue cracks and leak. I sat on my friend's bladder (don't remember the brand) and popped it spraying sticky cytomax allover the tent.
The dromedary is fool proof. I've abused my current 2L bag for years and it still doesn't leak.
Here is a tip: the dromedary screw top can be replaced with a standard Nalgene lid.

CAMP USA Nano 23 Carabiner

I got a bunch of these and paired some with long BD spectra dogbones. I like taking too much gear and sewing it up when I get scared. These lightweight biners make that possible. They are much smaller than a standard biner, so they will probably be harder to handle with gloves in winter.

Good for hooking bad for swinging

Grivel Trigger

Grivel Trigger

Rating for this product: 3 January 9, 2007

These triggers came on my Taa-k-oons. It adds to my hang time and delays the pump by distributing the pressure between index finger (trigger) and pinky (horn). The problem is it changes the swing so the tool pivots on your index finger instead of the pinky. It is no big problem on a hacked up climb where you are mostly hooking, but on fresh ice the funky swing over stresses my index fingers. Also the trigger gets in the way when I flip the tool around to hammer pins. I don’t use the triggers any more.
