waist is a little loose, or not much elasticity. i.e. the range of fit for it is not very good. It doesn't stretch much in either direction (slim or big) the waist is pretty much one size. It doesn't have belt loops or anything else that helps it cinch.

I count my ounces since I am a lightweight backpacker. I was extremely disappointed that the ACTUAL weight was 15oz! NOT 11 oz as advertised! Otherwise the quality looked good.
