Black Diamond Bandit with Avalung Winter Pack - 690cu in

according to black diamond product support and my own experience having just purchased this pack, it is NOT designed to carry a snowboard. it appears to be set up for vertical/diagonal ski carry; I've rigged it to (awkwardly) carry my board vertically. as with any pack you _could_ carry a board between your back and the pack, but it's not ideal.

If you need avalung and want something built to carry a board, the BD outlaw (Item #BLD0381) is probably the way to go...

I have two questions which I think may verge on dumb:1. Do the searcher(s) and burial(s) need to all be equipped with with this specific unit to see the vital statistics (presumably heartrate?) that it transmits? Or are there other transceivers out there that send/receive that sort of data? And 2. Does anyone know if there is a consumer grade receiver out there that can detect RECCO reflectors and/or if a combination unit that detects both reflectors and traditional beacons exists? I assume such a piece would be cost/size prohibitive, but just wondering...

Any thoughts as to this shovel/probe combo vs. the Voile (part VOL0066)? From what I can tell the BCA has a substantial weight/packability advantage, but sacrifices probe length. Thoughts, anyone?
