A Vast Improvement

Black Diamond Terra CF Trekking Poles - 1 pair

...after reading many reviews about these poles I decided to give them a try and am very impressed. At first it was a little strange getting used to the fact that they weren't anti-shock (which is what I had been using) but, the flick-lock, extended grips, and angled handles really make a winning package. I would highly recommend them.

An Extraordinary Fleece

Patagonia R4 Jacket - Men's

I have looked for the ideal fleece for many years and come up short, but I have to say that this jacket is a perfect combination of warmth AND wind resistance making it extremely versatile in the winter. I spent a weekend in the White Mountains of NH at around 5F and never felt the cold or the wind. It would have rendered my TNF Denali jacket useless which now, I guess, it is. Buy this jacket if you need a heavy fleece, it's the best.

Love my Theta AR

Seems very nice, BUT.....

.....it's not exactly what I'd expected in this jacket. Its quality of materials and craftsmanship is second to none but as much as I wanted to love the jacket, I didn't think the price justified the value. I own a Marmot Driclime Windshirt that will serve the same purpose for less than half the price. This site is great, and I'm sure I will be ordering more gear, although this one will go back.
