Smith 2008 Variant Brim Helmet

Smith 2008 Variant Brim Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 February 27, 2009

I like everything about the helmet...never really thought about wearing a helmet until an ER physican talked to my OEC class and made the point that a helmet can make all the difference in the severity of the injury..this hemet is light and the fit is good, with an 'adjustment' band around the back of the head...visor#1...does keep snow off goggles and blocks some low angle glare...some asked if it would break off...if you break this sucker off you would need to face plant a tree...

Light weight..no neck fatigue.

Goggles DO stick above the visor and on mine and they do not slip back [never put them up while skiing]. My helmet has the flat grey finish so it have more grip.

Chin strap buckle is a little funky...but no bigee.

Black Diamond Verdict Ski

November 21, 2008

OK..I asked about the Havoc and you referred me to the Verdict as another good choice...no weights given for Verdicts..can you compare the Havoc and Verdict for a ski that will do powder, crud, crust and to a lesser degree a groomed surface...no I am not so concerned about weight but I do plan to skin in and climb on multi day BC trips..lastly which would be the easiest to intiate a turn? Turns rather than speed are my concern. Still looking at Dynafit Comfort or perhaps the Freeride Plus..thanks..

Black Diamond Havoc Ski

November 18, 2008

OK so I am giving up on my painful Tele learning curve and going to a Ron/AT set-up...focusing on Havoc for my "one ski" with Dynafit TLT Comfort and probably Dynafit Zzero C TF boot...I ski advanced alpine; BC Inter... but my heart is in BC and skinning up to ski down is my future..snow here [Wallowa Mts] is mostly powder..but I really want to be able to ski it all and crust happens here a lot....185 and 5'10"...Havoc, Verdict or Kilowatt or ??? what is the real world difference on the snow with these skis? Any advice welcomed..thanks.
