Kick Ass

K2 Pontoon Alpine Ski

K2 Pontoon Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 3 September 8, 2006

If you know you need them, then look no further. They obviously are amazing in powder, but you need to adjust your skiing style to deal with the massive tips, which can be annoying. Other comparable and in my opinion, better, skis are the DP Lotus 138 and the Birdos 11. All in all, AMAZING in powder, but getting laughed at on the lift for having clown feet is less than great. A solid option for the price, and you too can have clown feet

clipfix tail not too amazing

Black Diamond Ascension Nylon Clipfix Skins

Black Diamond Ascension Nylon Clipfix Skins

Rating for this product: 3 May 9, 2006

If you have a flat tailed ski, these skins are fine, hell, they'll kick ass, but if you attempt to use them on skis that have a twintip, or even a slightly raised tail, I would highly advise getting the ascensions instead, you'll thank yourself later.

DAKINE Blade Backpack - 1824 cu in

DAKINE Blade Backpack - 1824 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 April 19, 2006

This backpack is for big backcountry days. It holds a shovel, probe, spare layers, food, and emergency/survival gear with the perfect amount of adjustment to not have it get in the way on the descent. It’s durable too, I tomahawked down an exposed rock chute after catching an edge, a few scratches but no rips or tears.

amazing

Naxo nx01 Alpine Touring Binding

Naxo nx01 Alpine Touring Binding

Rating for this product: 5 April 19, 2006

I mounted these on Bro-models (tramdock.com). It creates a set up that rivals Dynafit for strength and weight, I gladly carry a bit of extra weight for a 12 DIN binding on the way down. Perfect in my book!

Some problems, but great overall

Backcountry Access Alpine Trekker Adaptors

Backcountry Access Alpine Trekker Adaptors

Rating for this product: 4 March 3, 2006

If it gets below zero where you are, the plastic on the back of the binding can snap very easily, and they are not good for anything longer than 2-3 miles. However, if you are doing lift accessed BC, like ridge hopping at Kicking Horse, nothing is better because you keep your normal bindings, which keep your boots glued to your skis when you need it. Remember, every mountain has a line down it, the question is, do you have the tenacity to hold it?

I've been using them in Tahoe on my old school Pocket Rockets, no problem with climbing angle or grip, but the bag provided is a piece of crap.
