Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 8, 2008

Great Jacket, found a trick to adjust the hood and not fall over the eyes. Trick is to fold it in the back where the hood adjustment is. Used it on Cascade Pass and Sahale Arm (WA) in heavy rain and cold temp ( high 30's). Worked great and kept me comfortably warm. Definitely recommend it.

Great Pants, used it in Shi Shi Beach with a lot of vegetation.. had no issues with tear or anything. Been using it ever since in offtrail activities.. works great so far..full side zips are great.. a bit more breathable would've been better...

Great comfort when cold..

Merrell Traverse Backpacking Boot - Men's

Merrell Traverse Backpacking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2008

Great boots, was hiking up rock terrains in Granite Mntn and Cascade Pass and Mt.Shuksan. My feet felt so great at night, it was amazing. But the average temp was around 40's - 60's. Tried the hike in 70's once ..turned out to be a sweaty mess. But i would take that any day over hurting feet later... Great ankle support and good support for downhill.

Merrell Traverse Backpacking Boot - Men's

September 4, 2008

They are very waterproof, they aren't going to be getting wet from the outside, unless it comes in through the top of the bootVery true - i got water( almost 30's temp) in the shoes, but still felt very warm inside.. and was a breeze to dry the boot later

Best ever 3 season used..

The North Face Vario 33 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

The North Face Vario 33 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 May 12, 2008

This is my 3rd tent(owned) and before that I've rented a lot from REI. Amazingly light and fits very well in your backpack for weekend trips. Recently used it in Shenandoah, temp in the low 30's and very high wind. This tent was amazing, i didn't have to use any Pegs for the tent. The only downside is water condensation, but since this is only a 3 season tent i don't hold it against it. Also one of the quickest setup time, about 2 minutes.

Agree with most of the positive aspects mentioned by other - Pivotal system, capacity, comfort. I could easily fit my sleeping bag, tent, Stove, Utensils, Lamp, Climbing rope, water sack + food and some beer too and still had room left.. Surprisingly i got a hip belt that was not too bad. Fits me pretty good and i'm a 32'. Downside is adjustments, there are too many and lucky for me i got somehow got it right in the first few minutes. Takes a lot of weight off your back, i had almost 35 pounds on me and yet felt very light. Only if i cold fit a bigger water reservoir.
