Black Diamond Bandit with Avalung Winter Pack - 690cu in

Recovering from being thrown back seat from what I though was a small hit, & was a tad bigger. At least this time you can actually see the pack at first glance.

Rossignol Phantom Pro RC112 Ski
November 4, 2011
Rossignol did not think things through getting rid of this ski. All they have left is the Super 7s & that is it for everyday chargers.

Volkl Gotama Ski

If you ski out west the Gotama would be an excellent choice, I also would look into the Salomon Czar as well.

Dynastar Legend Pro Rider 115 Ski
October 19, 2011
I like the Pro XXL more, but I like stiffer skis, I feel that Dynastar messed with this ski in the wrong way on designing the so-called, improved version Pro Rider 115. The XXL is one of best fat skis ever made. All they had to do was keep the stiffness, but add some rocker to it. The Pro Rider 115 is not as tough as the Pro XXL, that ski you could ride into gnarly terrain & you could depend on it. I feel Dynastar dropped the ball on this ski, it could have been so much better.
I'm not a fan of the newer lighter, meduim flex version.

Black Diamond Megawatt Ski
October 15, 2011
I can't give you the exact answer but if you can speak to Nate Blouin, who works for Backcountry.com, he'll tell all you need to know. He swears by those skis.
The other two skis you mentioned are different style of skis vs. the Megawatt. I would recommend the 188 cm, but it depend on your height & weight. See if you can try to contact Nate, he shreds Snowbird everyday on them.

Atomic Bent Chetler Ski
October 15, 2011
I would say go with the 192 cm. Glen Plake said it best "Long skis truck, short skis suck!!!", The Bent Chentler is stiff enough but not too stiff to make the whole mountain your amusement perk.

Surface New Life Ski
October 15, 2011
You would be fine, you have take in account for the amount of tip/tail rocker the ski has. You don't wanna go too short, with less surface area, they won't be as fun.
I've got a buddy who shreds Alta that is 5'3" and loves the Surface 181 cm One Life (the next version down from this ski) & kills it.
Go with the 184 cm, you might wanna check out the 183 cm Atomic Bent Chentler, that is superb ski.

Black Diamond Bandit with Avalung Winter Pack - 690cu in
October 14, 2011
On the two loops on the top of the pack, there is a strap with a small clip (not pictured in the picture w/ the pack) you feed into it. That is the only thing I'm not crazy about on the pack, but it is minimalist style of pack.
I keep the strap clipped into one of the inside clips (on the top inside) on the pack whenever possible when I'm riding. I never want to have to dig through the pack or never loose them when I'm not hiking. I'm always worried to if I keep it on the outside it'll come off, snag you up in the trees and/or break.
It would just suck to lose that strap & have to scramble up something like Cody Peak (half way it gets pretty gnarly at times). I got an extra strap for free from BD when I was worried it would get lost. They are pretty cool guys there at the SLC headquarters.

I use a 100 oz. camelbak bladder (I fill it up 2/3 to 3/4 of the way) in this pack, it works/fits quite well. Everything else fits fine, no problems.

Armada ANT Ski
November 16, 2010
The ski was designed back for the 05-06 season & has not changed, I would compare it to the the Dynastar Pro XXL, just a touch less stiff. It is a big, fairly stiff, fun ski. The only complaint I have with Armada is the mounting point is too high up.
I have both the 194 XXL and 191 ANT & there is a 5 to 6 cm difference in the boot center. Armada has more of a terrain park boot center (at least on my '05-'06), rather than a traditional boot center. If you get these skis, mount them at negative 5 cm or so.
I have two sets of rocker skis, but it is always good to have one or two traditional camber skis. My ANTs are going on there 6th season with A LOT of camber left, tough base, they are now my rock skis, but still are awesome. Overall, they are awesome skis that I still love.

Armada JJ Ski
November 13, 2010
Armada tends to put the mounting point further up. There is a 4-5.5 cm difference between my 191 Armada ANT & 194 Dynastar Pro XXL, which are skis with similar length, stiffness, camber & width. I have friends that love this Armada JJ ski though, I would suggest asking a shop tech for the best spot for the riding you wanna do..
