Stomping Grounds:
The Wasatch and the Grand Canyon -
Bio:
I love to play. I grew up mainly in Salt Lake and have had access to some of the best places in the world. Right now I get to river guide in Grand Canyon during the summer and work in the hospital and at Snowbird in the winter so it's workin out pretty great. And, let's be honest, I've got a bit of a gear problem, so SAC and backcountry are perfect / trouble for me.

4 pair and counting....
Smith Method Sunglasses - Polarized
November 13, 2010
It's true, I'm an addict of sunglasses for sure. I am obsessed with wearing them whenever it is even somewhat sunny. My first pair of Methods were given to me 5 years ago and due to me loosing them and not taking care of them and getting them too scratched, I've needed to get new glasses, but I keep coming back to these. They're big enough that they block a lot of sun, but they're not too Hollywood. Also, I really don't like it when glasses sit on my cheeks and these don't at all. The super methods do and get foggy really easily, but these are great.

I (heart) yellow!
Black Diamond Camalot C4's
November 13, 2010
The yellow #2 is such the perfect hand size for me and BD camalots are my favorite of any cams! It's always good to have a couple of these in your rack for a desert trip.

Soft, fleecy goodness!
Marmot Power Stretch Zip Hooded Fleece Jacket - Women's
November 13, 2010
This fleece has come on almost every trip with me since I bought it. It's so soft and comfy and I love the hood and zippered pockets. I did burn a hole all the way through the pocket just by getting too close to my stove. Someone forgot that fleece is really melty. I still wear it and just don't use that pocket because it's great. Not really wind-proof but it's not supposed to be so I guess it's OK.

Light please? OK, here you go.
Petzl Tikka Plus 2 Headlamp
November 13, 2010
I love this headlamp. The settings are really versatile so you don't have to have it super bright while you're reading, but you can also have it bright enough to show you the way when you're hiking or whatever adventures might come about in the night!

These go everywhere!
Carve Designs Beachcomber Short - Women's
November 13, 2010
In the picture these look like they've got a pretty visible, shiny floral print on them but in real like you can barely see it, but I like it. They are really soft. I love the fabric. I work as a river guide and they have a couple snags on them but I'm pretty hard on my stuff, so I think under normal wear and tear they'd be fine. They do get a little loose when they're wet but I like them a little looser, so I still think go with whatever size you'd buy normally. They're great for hiking and everything even when they're wet unlike others that you have to deal with chaffage. Overall, they're great.

Stylie puffy!
Salomon Manero Down Jacket - Women's
November 13, 2010
It's hard to find puffy coats that look stylish and don't make you look huge and this coat is great at both of those. I liked the ones with color but they didn't have my size but black is always good. I wasn't sure about the shiny but turns out I really like it, so don't let that turn you away. It's really warm and I am counting down until it gets cold enough to wear it!

Pretty durable
Arc'teryx Palisade Capri - Women's
November 13, 2010
These capris are pretty comfortable and good for hiking. They're not as stretchy as some others I've tried which I do really like for climbing, but they're usual Arc'teryx quality so they're good durable fabric and construction. The pockets are kinda weird though. There's one on the front that is not very big and it's right at where your hip bends so it's not too comfy to have anything in it. But other than that, they're good pants.

Really great light weight
SmartWool NTS Microweight Zip-Top - Women's
November 13, 2010
It may look like I'm really cold in this picture, but it's just because it was an unusually cold evening in the Grand Canyon in June and none of us were prepared. This shirt was the warmest thing I had and it was good. It's thinner than I thought it was going to be but it fits really well and is perfect when you just need a little more than a T-shirt, or just a layer under a fleece or something. It's great too because it doesn't retain smell like regular capilene shirts tend to do.

Perfect for a smaller fit
Smith Anthem Goggle - Women's
November 13, 2010
I've had these goggles for a couple years and they are still great. Even wearing them over my helmet the strap hasn't stretched out. I don't like super huge goggles and these are perfect. I don't really have a small face, and these are some of the smaller ones that Smith makes, but I think these fit me pretty well and don't cut off too much periphery.

More than just a rain jacket!
Marmot Minimalist Jacket - Women's
November 13, 2010
I bought this as a rain jacket and it was a little thicker than I was expecting. I was thinking it was just going to be a shell, but it's got a liner in it that is really nice. It really helps keep the wet and cold off your skin. It added a little warmth that I wasn't expecting. It seemed really true to size for me. I'm generally a med and the med fit great.

Good but not great for super wet
Marmot PreCip Jacket - Women's
November 13, 2010
This jacket is pretty good. It does great in some lighter rain storms, but isn't great for prolonged times in the weather. I've had it for a while and used it quite a bit and most of the time it's good, but a little moisture seeps through if you're out in the weather for too long. But for a light weight, pretty cheap jacket, it gets the job done.

Great layer
Patagonia Capilene 2 Zip-Neck Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's
November 13, 2010
This shirt has been great. It's great as a layer or by itself. I really like it because it's long enough to stay down and not always ride up. It's just the right amount of stretch. I've worn it and washed it tons of times and it's still great.

Best for everything
prAna Bliss Capri Pant - Women's
November 13, 2010
These pants are great! I use them mostly for climbing, but they're great for hiking, boating when it's a little cold, because they dry super fast and pretty much anything else. They're stretchy and really comfy. If you get them and they seem just a little tight, they're perfect. They do stretch out a little so they won't be too snug. I have 2 pair of pants and 2 pair of shorts I like them so much!
