Atomic Tacora

Atomic Tacora Telemark Ski

Atomic Tacora Telemark Ski

Rating for this product: 5 March 16, 2007

I'd been skiing Atomic Tour Guides for years, (I believe these have recently returned as the no-wax Chugach). I'm a die-hard tele guy but have been getting out with an AT crowd skiing K2 Shuksans and Bakers. I decided I wanted a light, fat ski that would float me in the powder and bust the crud so, after some study and comparison, I ordered a pair of Tacoras. Yowee Zowee! I love'em! NO REGRETS!

Voile Hardwire Three-pin

Voile Hardwire 3 Pin Telemark Binding

Voile Hardwire 3 Pin Telemark Binding

Rating for this product: 5 March 15, 2007

I've been using the Voile three-pin with heel-latch spring cable for many years. I do lots of mountain touring and really appreciate the heel lift freedom of the three-pin toe piece so, when I ordered my Tacoras last month I decided to splurge and buy the hardwires. They seem just a bit heavier than the heel-latch version but I like the heel cam cable attachment. Quick and easy tension adjustment is another plus. No Regrets !!

Short Zipper!

Marmot Helium Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Marmot Helium Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 4 August 22, 2005

The Marmot Helium 15 degree bag is a lofty marvel. It is very well made and has 900 fill down. Especially nice is the well shaped hood with integral border that prevents your face from touching any of the fasteners. But for me, a menopausal woman who experiences hot flashes, the half-length zipper is unacceptable. I ended up returning my Marmot Helium bag and bought a Moonstone Lucid 20 degree bag with 800 fill down and I am pleased with it. It has a full length zipper and I can regulate my changes in temperature easily. The size and weight are very close to that of the Marmot Helium. For three season use in the high Cascades of WA it is ideal.

Nice Cork / Big Price

Rating for this product: 5 November 24, 2003

A good little cork, well-balanced, with nice fits and finishes, but definitely not worth the price tag.
